It is. Boris and Doris is good, but Barrel Aged Boris is kinda rough IMO. I think you would like it if you like Backwoods and BCBS

I love me some BORIS. I had Batch 100 this week, which is a version made with all English Pale as base malt, making it sweeter with some toasty biscuit flavors. I have a BA BORIS from last year aging now to have soon. I had it pretty fresh in early 2011.

I am planning on having the Bolt Cutter in the next couple weeks since I have access to bottles so I can age one. Living in MI helps
Tonights highlights. I also had Shiner O-fest which was really solid, and Mikkeller Jackie Brown which was shyt. The bottle had obviously went south. Phenolic.
This was highly excellent! Huge brett funk and white wine in the nose(aged in Chardonnay barrels). apple, pear, lemon zest, white wine, pepper, floral, hay, grass, light funk, wheat, earth, and herbal spiciness in the taste.

Excellent, but not up to expectations for being 3.5 years old. I don't think Ommegang's brett strain is as great as I want it to be, as Biere De Mars was about the same opinion. Pear, apple, lemon, pepper, clove, earth, funk, bread, herbal, hay, grass, leather, and yeast spiciness. Very balanced and complex.

At work and missed it. Hoping to catch the replay on MMA-Core. Now hopefully GSP will put a whoopin on Nick. Love it when the douchebag bro's lose. Happy Happy Happy

Wild saisons aren't that much similar to regular saisons as the spiciness is generally suppressed and gives way to the brettanomyces character(especially since it was over 3 years old). They usually end up begin super dry as fuk golden ales with peppery spice and complex fruitiness.
Also good luck finding a bottle anyways, last time they made a batch was in 2009. One of my local stores has 1 left, but it wasn't good enough to warrant another purchase. Ill think about it though.

In my DVR, will watch tomorrow. I've hated the Diaz bros ever since they jumped Mayhem after the Shields fight.

I've never liked'em since I started watching MMA. If it wasn't for MMA they would be dead or in jail.

Missed you guys. Lol.
Spent the week in Seattle. Drank many beers, but none as special as I would have liked. Visited Total Wine in Renton on Monday. They were selling Pliny by the bottle on Tuesday. Damn. Missed it.
Mac and Jacks, as well as Manny's Pale Ale, continue to be my go-to beer up there. Ninkasi also has some good stuff. Alaskan is pretty poor.
I visited Dog and Pony again (http://www.thecraftbeerguru.com/2012/09/the-dog-pony-alehouse.html) and, as is usually the case, received an education in beer. That's a bar patroned by seriously knowledgeable craft consumers.
Posted a review of a DFH beer on my blog, if interested.
Cheers all.

can i brew 1 gallon of beer in a 5 gallon system?
if so
Should the condition bucket be closer to the volume of beer? Oxygen = bad

Yes, that's brewing 101. Keep the secondary as full as possible.
Meanwhile, this is a million times better when you age it. Had it "fresh" post bottling; no bueno. Aged a year and some change; muy bueno. Yes, it does say enjoy after 8/4/12, but I drank it sometime in June or July '11 just to see. I should have listened because this is great and probably gets much greater over the next year or three.

Many places sell 1/2 and 1 gallon glass jugs. I do not like plastics for anything.

so go with glass?
I feel like brewing sound simple on the outside. then you start thinking of questions and situations and its like what the hell...
-
Currently drinking 2009 Old Dominion Millenium Barleywine. Big malt body with a smooth hop finish. Next up Backwoods Bastard.
-
that backwoods is a kick in the face..in a good way. will get better with some age tho

Glass is better. Plastic may impart nonsense.

I would agree. Want some more?
