It’s up there with devastating moves that I haven’t seen mentioned too much. Like brutal.
Scott Steiner could really wrestle so damn good until he transformed into BPP IMO.

Kawada and his vertical drop powerbomb...or ganso bomb or whatever anyone would call it. That ****, no thanks.
You kids obviously don't know about the dreaded Garvin Stomp

I knew it was this clip before even opening the thread.
My question is, how do you even safely take this bump?

as long as steiner keeps his legs up enough when he hits the ground, the opponent's shoulders will take the fall
but there's no room for error, any slip up and he's ****ed (ie owen hart/stone cold)
he only did it a few times in his career as i'm sure most guys thought it was too risky to take

lol that's just complete disregard for his opponent, pick him up and drop him on his head
steiner's screwdriver looks more deadly but a lot safer (unless he fuks up which i don't think he ever did)

Why is there so much pressure to take stupid edgy bumps in Japan?
Why is there so much pressure to take stupid edgy bumps in Japan?
It’s supposed to be a last resort/desperation move which are huge in Japan.
Big moves like that are only busted out on occasion when a wrestlers first or second finishing move fails to get them the pin.
Kawada and misawa were rivals for a lot of years and fans seen kawada come up short many many times because misawa was the man in Japan. He was the champ. The guy. He always won because he was too good. The storyline was kawada would need to break out something sick to put him away this time. When he did it, fans recognized it and it actually became a mark out moment In all of Japan.
It was reserved for that moment.
Kenta kobashi
Mitsuharu misawa
Toshiaki kawada
Dr. Death Steve Williams
Jumbo tsuruta (was the top dog in the 90s then he passed the torch onto misawa to carry Japan for the coming 90s).
Stan Hansen
Vader
....
All had more than 1 finishing move some reserved as big last ditch effort moves for when they cannot finish an opponent. Those are huge in Japan the fans go nuts.
Most of these have been used a handful of times. And most of these target the head and/or neck.
