Was so interested in the flip 3 as an upgrade to my S10+ but after a long deliberation I decided it would be the wrong move.
I really, REALLY want the folding screen. It's such a new and exciting thing to happen that switches up the boring candy bar design. However:
1. Camera quality is bad for a flagship, especially in lower light situations. Pictures look noisy and lacking detail. The camera hardware is identical to an S7 plus which was released in like 2016. Video quality is also awful as I saw it looked choppy in reviews. I love taking good pics and my S10 felt like such an upgrade from my S7. I can't go back to an S7.
2. The cover screen. While I'm glad it's a little bigger this time I feel like the size and functionality is still far from its true potential. What it should do is be big enough to allow you to reply to messages. It should also be big enough to do some light browsing, watch YouTube and quickly browse social media. Maybe have a nice calendar widget, to-do list and other things like a calculator and so on.
3. The battery is piss and it it doesn't have fast charging.
I feel like the flip 4 may address all these things but I may just cave next year and get the 22ultra if it looks awesome.
Yes sometimes. I have smart unlock setup when I'm home, in the car, connected to watch or buds live, and at work. It always works when I'm connected through BT (buds live, watch and car) but the GPS thing is the one acting up sometimes.
I recalibrated my GPS (doing that 8 shape thing) and it kind of resolved the issue.
the 8 shape thing....I'm always prompted in the car, so it looks like I'm pretending my phone is a plane toy, wheeeee :D
What's up nerds?
Finally upgrading from Note 8 to Note 20 Ultra.
Note 8 is still working fine but battery doesn't last that long anymore and have a crack on the corner of the screen.
Should be arriving tomorrow as per Fedex tracking. Also got the Samsung beans and Mogo controller since I got $200 coupon on accessories for pre-ordering.
Anyone else getting the Note 20? This is my bday gift to myself and a 2020 YT Capra Pro Race :D
got the note 20 ultra for 1yr now. Got the snapdragon variant. Love it so much. Works awesome. Good media consumption, also tune all the audio settings, makes a difference. The dolby atmos in landscape mode is awesome and it's fruitioned a long way from being a gimmic. The dex is awesome, drop $30 on a all in 1 usb-c dongle for an awesome computer experience. Heads up, the battery optimization is a bit hard. I needed to turn off 5g, wifi scanning, 4k res, and always on display. This helps a ton with battery for 20hrs of usage. I use phone for most of my awake life so I invest heavily on it. I spent $50 on extra stuff for software like games, ringtone and wallpapers customizer, nova launcher, icon packs etc just to pimp out for max experience. We'll worth it. I also make my own widgets with some other app I bought. Really awesome phone, you'll love it. Remember, these new samsung phones need a special compatible usbc to 3.5mm headphone dongle. Normal ones will be locked out.

September 13th is the rumor for Pixel 6 launch. Bring it. I am probably in on a pre-order as long as there is some type of pre-order bonus that lets me feel like less of a moron buying something at full blown release price.

That post is more than a year old :)
But yes, I got it last August 2020 also. I always have the Note phone since the beginning and only skipped Note 10.
So far my Note 20U is still working great.
I'll probably use it for one more year and trade it to whatever is the new thing next year. Not sure if there will still be a Note phone since all these new Galaxy phones are now compatible with their SPen and they also sell cases with Spen holders.

I bit, got the PXL 6 PRO yesterday, it was time. The battery life on my PXL 3XL was getting bad, Verizon gave me $550 for the trade in, not bad. Impressed so far, only time will tell.

I upgraded from a 3XL as well. Long overdue. Was upgrading to new Nexus/Pixel every year before that disastrous Pixel 4 hit.

Phone advancement has slowed down a lot. I remember getting a newe phone every year that was distictly different from the phone I got the year prior.

Still rocking my note 10+. Longest I've ever had a smartphone almost 3 years I think

wild thread, I was reading all these posts not realizing they were 6+ months old
still rocking the S10+ but have been itching to upgrade some tech lately. I think both my phone and PC setup are 2-3 years old at this time but I haven't seen anything that looks worthwhile to upgrade to

Dear lord imagine having to replace your phone twice in a year and still buying the next model. I cannot deal with that stress.

Anyone got the Nothingphone 1?

Jesus, why?
6 Pro here and everything all good. Still interested to see the 7 though. I am a sucker for tech upgrades as long as I can convince myself there is a reason.

Miss my Oneplus 6T but the security updates stopped after three years.
With Verizon so Oneplus did not have a lot of good options for their network.
I've had an unlocked Google Pixel 6 for a while now. Speaker is beyond terrible on this phone but Google promises more security updates.

S21 Ultra master race. will not upgrade until Samsuck creates a better version. S22 Ultra did not beat it.

Anyone use a VPN service like ExpressVPN for Android?
S21 Ultra master race. will not upgrade until Samsuck creates a better version. S22 Ultra did not beat it.
Agreed. This year has been mediocre for phone tech imo. I was ready to upgrade to the 22 ultra but was disappointed in its specs. It was a very minor improvement over the 21 ultra and the processor especially was a hot mess. They fixed the processors for the next line of fold devices that just got announced but in 6 months there will be a brand new upgraded chip. As well as a new camera system which is a welcome change since they have been using the same camera setup in their flagships since the note 20....so 3 years.
I follow cell phone stuff closely, I think the S23 Ultra will be amazing.

The Pixel 6 pro and 7 Pro pushed me back to Samsung after 5 years. The Pixel 3XL was so much better, until it wasn't. :D
Loving the S22 Ultra so far, the last Samsung device I had was the S7 Active, a beast.

Why Is that? I have been Pixel Master Race since it was Nexus Master Race. The 4 and 5 were a dissapointment for me, but feel they are back on track.

Surprisingly dead in here given the S23 release on Wednesday
what's everyone's thoughts?
I'm waiting for Verizon to make it a selectable option so I can trade in my trusty S10+. Looks like the cameras on the 23 Ultra are gonna slap. Have trips booked for Hawaii, Iceland, and Canada this year

Yep, getting this one. I was telling the S22cels to wait a year due to last year's trash SOC but yall didn't want to listen. Finally upgrading my S10+ is well. Now we get a chip that's years ahead of last year in power and efficiency and we get a new camera module that will stay for the next 3 years or so till we're ready to upgrade again.
Can't wait to have a modern note device. My only complaints are the device didn't change from last year's design and base Ultra hould start at 12GB/256GB. Would have liked my new device to look new.
