I removed by wedding ring. Now wear it only on rest days
I got mine off a few weeks back… and won't put it back on. Far too difficult.
Might consider resizing it at some point - it's really not a big thing over here in Korea.
People still wear wedding rings?
No ring now. Wife is okay with it too!
Mine stays on and don't even notice it's there .
I take it off for heavy deadlifts as it cuts in. Otherwise it stays on.
Fortunately I had fatter fingers when I got married than I do now!
i definitely wouldnt be lifting with a ring on! sounds painful!
When I was married I always wore it. Never bothered me, but it was definitely beat to sht.
I have always had hobbies / jobs where wearing a ring could injure me. Plus I have a hard time finding a ring that fits. I wear a 14.5 on my pinky...
So, I am not a tat guy, but got one this year. My wife's initial on my ring finger.
sometimes my wife cleans it but otherwise it has been on my finger for 26 years, damn the callous.
I wear mine all the time and haven't noticed an issue.
I take it off in the locker room, using lots of soap which helps it to slide off my finger more easily.
If this weren't a wedding ring thread my post might be misinterpreted. :0
Use to wear my ring in the gym but it was uncomfortable and then dangerous. I started looping it to my drawstring but that was a hassle. Eventually I got below 10% Bodyfat and could not keep it on. Never resized it and wife understood. Now I'm ringless!
Mine has raised designs on it, which would make it dangerous to wear IMO and it would get beat up- so I don't wear it for working out but I wear it otherwise.
I don't wear mine when I work out. Like others said, uncomfortable and could be dangerous.
I haven't had any problems lifting with my ring. I don't even notice it. On my heaviest lifts I use straps, but even on the heaviest unstrapped lifts it doesn't pinch or cause any trouble. I've lost nearly 30 lbs on my cut, but it doesn't come off any easier - I must retain fat in my fingers! :)
The few times I tried lifting while wearing my wedding band I ended up bending the crap out of it. Now I take it off and clip it on my keyring. Sometimes I even remember to put it back on.
I recently lost 50 lbs and my wedding band doesn't fit very well. It is too big and slips off easily. That may be part of the reason I don't always remember to put it back on. :)
a hottie at the gym is the only thing that would make you want to take it off LOL
jk
never really noticed an issue with mine..............
Broke the knuckle on my ring finger snow boarding 12 years ago. Wedding ring has never come off since. Has never bothered me lifting. Its plain gold (and in my avi).
What about ring protectors? search for "protect your ring while lifting weights" or something...
I crushed mine several years ago. Stopped wearing it ever since.
Same thing here I had to cut mine off with a hacksaw, my finger was swelled up so bad. That was 16 years ago.
I take mine off to be safe.
Mediocre bump, 2/10....

Sad thread makes me sad. I wish I had a wedding ring to worry about in the gym. But alas...Forever Alone.

Wrecked my ring finger pretty bad in the gym because of my ring a couple of years ago. After that started taking it off when I went to the gym. Wife was afraid I would lose it so she got me a silicone wedding band. Have been wearing it for a few months and it's working out well. Since then I have noticed some pro athletes wearing them as well.
Does anyone else's wedding ring (if you even wear one) sometimes bother you when lifting?
I've got a huge callous underneath my left ring finger, it's the only one.
I'm not really fussed about the callous so much though, but worry I might either bend the crap out of my ring or pinch my finger skin under it somehow- blood blisters are not fun.
The only two options I can think of, short of removing it, is to wrap over it in white adhesive tape, or wear lifting gloves, but I kinda think lifting gloves are for dandies, unless your hands sweat profusely or something.
Or, there are those little tube things for toes when you have a corn, maybe that'd work..
So take your ring off before you workout, you're still married without your ring, no worries m8. Lots of guys take their ring off for work if they do construction so I don't see a difference

Thought you had a new girlfriend?

I do, and she is amazing. I'm happier than I've been in years (and I know you know something about that ;)).
Anyway, that was just an attempt at some humorous sarcasm about this old thread being bumped.
Take it off!!!
Oh yeah, the ring always comes off in the car save for leg day. It gets scratched up otherwise and will eventually rip your callouses off before they're ready to come off.
