Same, I went to LA to visit family, when we weren't doing anything I started playing in hand held mode. I brought the charger along just in case. Didn't even use it. I'm loving BOTW so far, 14 hours in, I've explored so much got so little of the main quest done. It's fun as ****, the shrines are challenging. Hate that people are making threads tryna bash it.
-
I would buy one just to keep Nintendo alive as I don't ever want to see them leave the market like Sega, I still think they are way behind in basic features that should come standard on everything now-a-days, even flip phones have Bluetooth. Other things like on-line with voice chat and 1080p should have been standard as well, even most smart phones that are 4k can run all day on a much smaller battery. This should have been Nintendo's chance to turn things around but they blew it again.
I am not knocking the console or anyone who bought it. I am optimistic about what games will be coming out, I'll probably beat Zelda and just chunk it in the drawer until something good comes out.
-
Definitely worth getting the switch over the u guys. I didn't think id use the hand-held version, but have almost exclusively been using that.
Hands down a 10/10 game. The reviews were right. The sheer amount of **** to do is mind-blowing. I'll be about to start a quest and then get side-tracked checking out totally different **** for like two hours before I go back to what I was originally doing.
The game is also totally unforgiving. Be ready to die...A LOT.
Protip- save often lol
I hope you early buyers are enjoying it. I might just hold on to my Wii U for a little while longer.
I'm really liking the portability. I've barely even docked it and 90% of time play in portable. Finally docked it last night for while. Probably will play it a lot more than my other systems because of that fact. Play it while pooping, laying in bed, in kitchen cooking and waiting for stuff, fiancee drives I can play, etc.. Where as before I didn't bother. Have a few co workers that got one as well and both are obsessed with Zelda and love it. One hasn't owned a Nintendo system since like 64.
As far as BOTW. Amazing. Not even that far into it and absolutely love it. The AI is much smarter than most games, love the art style, and the vastness of it makes you want to explore. I constantly keep getting side tracked on the way to quests. Thus why I'm not that far yet.

anyone else freak the fuk out when the purple/red chit started flying everywhere and the sky started turning redish dark? I thought I may have ventured too deep and ended up at the point of no return (to fight ganon). I was like CHIT, I started sprinting back to where I was coming from, but it happened anyway and it was a cut scene about the blood moon and i felt better instantly
Does anyone know if Zelda:BOTW is worth getting on the Wii U?
I am asking because some people say there are frame rate issues on the Switch version so I imagine the Wii U might not be powerful enough for the game to run smoothly on it.
the switch is more of a horsepower upgrade to the 3ds than the wii u. they didn't even use the latest soc.
also, keep in mind that this game was originally developed for the wii u. they ported it over so switch could have a good launch title. Lol at the main franchise games being upgraded wii u ports (zelda, smash, mario kart )
just watch thry will discontinue online play to force the upgrade

Love how the system goes into sleep mode and you can just whip it out and continue BOTW within seconds anywhere.

Can someone show me where all of the shrines are that I need to beat to get the parachute please?

@what. Just stand on the tower and look around with the sheikah. Slate. All the ones you see from top of the tower are the ones you need. Just use the pins to mark the spot.

There are only 4 on the plateau, of which you already finished one.
So it's the remaining 3.
They look like this:

AngryJoe gives it the "highest possible 9/10, with the easiest bad ass seal of approval I have ever issued"
which means a lot since he is one of the harshest reviewers out there.

i think this game is the whole reason she bought me a switch. every night after our son is sleeping she begs me to play it. Fun as fuarkkk
-
Exactly, it's like you tell the person "alright clip me a little bit" " jump on my head" and they completel7 mess up. It's good small laughs that make the game really enjoyable.

Most people bash Nintendo for having no 3rd party support. Yet if they did have it, and let's say they got games like RDR2, BF or whatever...would anyone really play them on a Nintendo console? No, Nintendo is for their 1st party greatness. Always have been. You buy it for the 1st party exclusives. Who wants Witcher or wtf ever on the Switch? No one, so why should Nintendo bother with those titles? I don't even know why they bother with COD or Assassin's Creed tbh. Most Nintendo owners are happier playing them on PC or other consoles, and just own the Nintendo for Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc.

Agreed, but the Switch's portable capability might change this a bit. F.e. FIFA will appear on Switch. In docked mode it will obviously be inferior compared to the Xbone version, but on Switch you can play FIFA on the go. This might be a big thing for certain people.
I myself play 99% of the time on the TV, so I will keep my 3th party on Xbone and the Switch for Nintendo exclusives though.

Just picked one up Wednesday when they had a limited restock at Gamestop (ended up having to drive to five gamestops that morning)
I love it so far, can't wait for more games to be released.
