PICS and DISCUSSION of YOUR HOME GYM V2.0
Just upgraded my home gym to V2.0, and I'm stoked! Added some new equipment—dumbbells, resistance bands, and a sleek squat rack. The space is my personal fitness haven now. Mirrors on the wall for form checks and good vibes. Share your home gym setups! Let's discuss our favorite workout routines and the gear that keeps us motivated.
Modified leg curl / leg extension
A few months ago, I decided to increase my leg workouts and re-installed the leg curl / leg extension apparatus that I had taken off my home gym bench years ago. From real gyms, I know how those exercises should feel, and was disappointed that my home version had maximum load at the quad-contracted straight-leg end of leg extensions and the hamstring-contracted knees-bent end of leg curls, with very light load at the muscle-extended range (which is supposed to be the better range for development of strength and hypertrophy).
I modified my the apparatus so I can put plates on both bars. This new version adds load at the extended muscle range and a much more uniform load overall. Very happy with the feel now! (And it was very satisfying that the cost was less than $20 and the time required was less than an hour to shop, drill, and install.)
It’s been so long since I’ve been on here that I’ve forgotten how to imbed photos. Until then, here are links to a photo of the apparatus and a graph of the improved load curve.
