What’s the cheapest handgun you guys would gift?
My brother in law has lots of hunting rifles / shotguns; his 40th bday is coming up and wanted to get him a handgun because he’s a pussywhipped bish and despite wanting a handgun for years his wife won’t let him buy one and he’s too much of a cuck to step out of line.

M&P 2.0's are solid as fk and can regularly be found for $450 or so.
I'd take an M&P 2.0 over any polymer striker on the market, 100% srs.

I just saw on AIM the Shield 2.0 9mm is ~$330 shipped and it qualifies for a $50 gift card. $280 + 20 for my FFL is a steal.

My wife just walked in and asked what I was doing. After telling her she said “if you’re buying a gun, it’s going to be for you.”
Still gonna do it.

I limit gifts to $25.
Very nice of you, ChewYourFood.

Don't see them for $380 and since it's a gift you don't have to include the price of the mandatory apex

Gonna be in this crew the next few years. Took our daughter to the tour at University of Denver today and she liked it a lot more than CSU. Not really surprised by that, it's a really nice campus and significantly more personal. So there's a strong possibility I will have both kids there next year (son is a FR there right now).
Google the tuition if you want to see how frightening that prospect is. Son got about $16k in merit scholarships and she'll probably get at least that. But that's gonna leave a mark. I'll be eating more ramen noodles than they will be.

It's a really noble thing to pay your kids tuition, but I still wouldn't do it up front. I knew way, way, way too many kids who thought college was "free" and ultimately didn't take it as serious as they should have. I'd make my kid take out a long and save the money to maybe pay off a big chunk as a surprise once they graduate.

I view it as in investment in their future. My parents paid for my college . . . I'll pay for my kids. There are conditions to it. Their major must be something highly applicable No sociology, theater, political science, basket weaving, gender and women's studies, etc. The default, if they can't decide by the time they have to declare, is Business Administration.
My son is doing a 5 year program for accounting (includes Master's) and if he does what he should do, he should be able to land a great job and be highly employable. Daughter isn't quite sure, but will probably do at least the accounting degree. We've had a lot of talks about it with both of them. It's a significant amount of money, but we're happy to invest it if they will commit to making it work for them. And that while we'll try to "help" them beyond that, this is the last hurrah for them to get the tools to launch and that my wife and I plan to significantly slow down in the next 5 years or so.
It will be good for both of them in numerous ways. Already seeing it with our son. Hopefully, they will pay it forward when it's their turn.

This is a really smart choice. If I could go back and do it again, I would have looked into this more. I went through and got my bachelor's degree in accounting, but sitting for the CPA exam requires more college credit hours than you get with a bachelor's degree. I was too dumb to look into this and figure it all out before my last year and I was dead set on graduating, but the school also offered a similar 5 year program that would have you graduating eligible for a CPA. I wanted to get out and start working and earning and paying down some of the debt amassed while in school, telling myself I'd always go back to finish up some extra coursework for the requirements...but I found it a lot harder to go back the longer I was out. There's still plenty you can do with just a degree in accounting, but obviously you're better off with a CPA to go with it.

It just astounds me how expensive college is these days. Decades ago a guy that worked at a factory could send 3 kids to college with no loans.
Now a 4 year degree costs an insane 6 figures and the schools still have the funds to donate millions to politician's re-election campaigns.

No such thing as an AD boyo (except in the 0.01% of cases where a mechanical defect caused the gun to fire, with no input from the person manipulating it)

I have seen one video of a verified AD. Slow motion and all. Was a cheapo gun that simply failed and discharged when he racked the slide to chamber a round. In the video he was like oh **** I just had an ND. Then he reviewed video and posted it all with a follow up and overlay speaking...aha! AD.
If you drop a Sig P320, and just let it fall (correctly, as you should) rather than try to catch, and it discharges upon landing, which one is that?
Negligent because you're the idiot who bought and continued using a P320 without having it fixed

I agree with the manual safety thing. In ranking order or what I'd want pointed at my junk all day, first is a decocked DA/SA- there's no way it can go bang when the hammer isn't even under tension. Next would be a striker fire like Glock that isn't under full tension when cocked. Last would be a SAO with a manual safety on.
Reread what I said about the "AD" from the gun in question. He legit managed to make the decocker fire the gun if you didn't ease it down. I guess technically that could be ND since negligent gunsmithing? lol

So like 2 years ago when they converted all of our M4s to M4A1s (Replaced burst with FA, and heavier barrel, and added ambi safety) a curious thing happened. On a number of weapons they would fire a round when you switched the selector from semi or auto back to safe. Yes, putting the weapon on safe caused it to fire.
Flash traffic went out a few days prior to our annual weapons qual that under no circumstances were any M4s to leave the arms room until inspected by NGB Armorers.

A lot of people say that the quality on Remington's went down big time after 2007. I've always preferred the Remington's myself but I would be wary about rust issues on the newer ones. I have a Browning BPS that was given to me by my dad that has been murdering turkeys in the woods with minimal maintenance (before me) for over 30 years. Its a little more expensive I can't recommend it enough especially if you're a lefty because its fully ambi
