OK..I'm in. My bench kinda sucks, too...but I'm starting a bulk in Sept. so maybe I'll turn into a beast and kill it...;)

I may as well through my hat into the ring. Been considering a PL meet for a while, so now I'll have double incentive to work on my bench.
Way to go ladies! Great to have you gals aboard! :)
So at 70 we should compete with guys at 35? I'm glad official BP comps are more fair than this one.
No disrespect was intended Dutch... and I'm pretty sure that no one's going to laugh at your lifts (which based on your avy I'd imagine are pretty good).
If you want to join up I'll gladly add a "Masters Class" for lifters 60+ in age. Would that be acceptable?

Heck of a job OS. Looks like you'll probably be battling it out with Matt again!
I'm going to give this a shot. I'm not sure if I'll be under or over the 194# mark though. I'm under it now but I was planning on bulking this Fall.
I'll work on getting a video posted.
My first entry.... got a little carried away with the warm-up sets before so it didn't go up as smooth as it usually does. Good starting point for me though.

Sounds like a decent compromise that will at least make it fun for us Old Farts to join in. Thanks.

I vote we each just get our own class.
I vote we each just get our own class.
I thought I said that!
Thanks for starting the thread. My only sugestion would be to have weight classes inlinw with the DL and Squat threads.
why not have the regular/traditional powerlift weights? makes alot more sense to me.

and a masters category makes good sense, if inclusion is the goal.

The ExtremePullupCrew comps in the big misc don't have different age classes. And the 40-somethings consistently beat out those in their 20s and 30s. Just sayin'. ;)
I dont see a problem with a masters class, but the weight classes should stay inline with the others threads. Just makes since.

This could be fun ;)

why? it was suggested to steve way back when, but steve being steve wouldn't consider it. :)
and if you want to keep it consistent, get it consistent. the classes here are not the same, so i don't get your point.
edit: sorry flat6nut...didn't see your earlier post suggesting getting the classes in line with the other threads. some consistency would be good.
How do you not get it? Deadlift and squat comps both have the same weight classes. Why would we not keep it consistant?
Your editing while I am posting....lmao....irs all good.
I guess Wayne just has to be different.
Incoming negs......
The reason this comp is going to be so different than the other two is that this one will have 3x the number of entrants at least. C'mon now guys, we all know bench pressing > deadlifting and Squatting :D

LOL, I'm a dumbass since I just posted this as reps to boathead...
I know these competitions are just for fun and motivation but why not
just use the powerlifting weight and age classes.
Goes for the other 2 comps. ;)
Whats the rule on the range of motion? Touch chest, past 90, @ 90.. I know I could get more weight up if my shoulder lets me touch and go, but I dont train that way.
Need to get my powerlifting form worked on.

For the squat comp I just copied the weight classes from the DL comp.
We only had 11 official entries in total, so having 7 weight classes would have been overkill.
I'm guessing the BP comp will have a lot more entries, though.
Just going by what I tend to see in the gym; lotsa people benching - few squatting.
:)
I would have to compete against someone who weighs up to 224?

Good lift man!
Hey, I'll chime in the weight classes as well...using the same classes as the other two comp threads would be ideal IMHO.

The natives are restless! :p
I honestly didn't even notice that the weight classes were the same in the other 2 comps... I can certainly get them in line with those if that's what everyone wants.
Not a problem. :)
EDIT: OK... edited 1st post and modified the weight classes. That look better?

TnG or Paused. Either is fine. Basically full ROM with a lockout at the end.
