I still can't figure out the Jets. They're without their #2-3-4-5-6 defensemen from last year and are getting next to no scoring from their 3rd and 4th lines.
They're playing with defensemen who should be in the AHL and they're tied for 6th in the league.
The bubble will burst and it could be ugly. If they could pull off trades for two dmen and a 3rd line scorer they could win it all this year, but that would come at a heavy price in draft picks and prospects.
In other news, I woke up this morning to the sound of my NOAH radio warning me there are funnel clouds west of my city. I drove out past the perimeter and captured this photo...

If you look at the treeline to the left you will see a small light. That's another stormchaser signaling me. You can also see another to the far right, although I missed him at the time.
No tornado touchdowns reported so I wasted my entire afternoon on nothing.

It's mid-December and Pasta is still clowning on the rest of the league.
Meep strangely is getting more livid as this happens too I'm sure.
Hall might get traded to the Yotes mid game
I love how Hall has said for a while that he just wants to be a part of a winning team. So they might trade him to Arizona.
IDC if they're 10th in the league, we all know that won't last.
-
Hall to AZ for basically Merkeley, Ball and a couple of conditional picks
Not a huge fan of Hall, but not a bad deal
Edit: Well they get a 1st guaranteed, but it’ll likely be a pretty late pick knowing Yotes luck especially if they make the postseason
-
Phil Kessel and Taylor Hall playing together in AZ, who saw that coming?
-
Blues without Tarasenko and still rolling. Just happy they didn't give up Thomas for Hall.
-
Arizona going to be dangerous in the West. Not sure about their center depth but they have 2 good goalies and a decent D core.

Wild ****. But Hall must be happy he gets to play with an american hero and the second coming of Christ.

What is the take on Hall?

MVP of the league in his last healthy season. Not sure what to say about him this year NJ is such a dumpster fire I don't watch them except when they play the Bruins.

Remember when most NHL pundits said Devils quietly had the best offseason, and to watch out for them this season?.......I member.

Jets are playing a way more disciplined game with a structure, and emphasis on defense. I'm pretty sure they take the least penalties in the league or at least in the top 5 in that category. I remember the past couple seasons Jets would always be in the top 5 at most penalties taken so they've cleaned that up. Also, it turns out Maurice isn't that bad of a coach as most people thought he's adjusted pretty damn well with all the losses in D.
Jets will always score that's no problem, but Hellebuyck also seems to be back to Vezina form from couple seasons ago. Pionk has been way better than advertised smooth skater with great offensive instincts, and defends well for his size.
The key will be Helleybuck as you said the defense will def not be able to hold up throughout the season. Poolman is a dumpster fire with the puck guy has butter hands loses it continuously. Bittetto the potato a complete AHL defenseman but he has "locker room presence" Sbisa has actually been decent considering he used to be a serviceable defenseman for years. Beaulieu can skate and pass the puck so that's a plus lol.
Carolina tonight should be a good test I could see the game going to OT. Very underrated team are the Canes.

don't think anyone was saying it was quiet. they got the 1st overall pick, made the biggest trade and had a hart winner coming back. all those guys were overrated tho. i didn't expect them to be this bad, but i never thought they'd be good.

national stick check league for you
if he would've thought "hey i can absolutely demolish this guy right now" we'd probably be staring at kempe on a stretcher but he does that stupid driveby stickcheck everyone does and looks like an idiot
bruins honestly embarrassed themselves a lot last night flopping like fish everywhere
Bruins are so bad in OT & the shootout.
Yeah I don't know if it's been talked about here recently and if people are just over it, but the 3v3 OT is garbage, IMO. I get it they want to 'add excitement' while keeping the length of games short but the 3v3 is a joke. I'd almost be good with one straight up 10 minute OT, regular 5v5, bring back the tie and don't give a point for an overtime loss.

My take on this is completely anecdotal but here goes. hate the 3v3 and the shootout because it is so gimmicky and is not true to the original hockey format but I truly despise ties. I went to my Alma mater a few years back to watch them play our rival school which is always a packed house and heated no matter how bad each team is. The game was so intense and ended up going to OT. The OT in college is 5 minutes of 5v5 which was literally back and forth flying up the ice wide open hockey for 5 minutes, neither team scored and it ended in a tie. It felt like more of a letdown than a loss, its difficult to explain but I hated it.
What I wish the NHL would do is at least move the OT format to 4v4 for 10 minutes before resorting to a skills competition to determine the extra point. I think you would find that is enough time and open ice to end games more often than having to resort to the shootout. I'd prefer to see 4v4 until there is a winner, no stoppage at the 20 minute mark just keep playing but the NHLPA would never go for that.

like most things, 3v3 was fun until people found the "meta" then it became just like everything else, a boring lifeless coachfest

That happens with basically anything that demands optimal performance. But then the alternatives are:
-Bring back 4v4 but greatly increase # of shootouts
-Make it like the playoffs but obviously **** up scheduling + players will hate it
-Get rid of OT but have to award ties
No winners.
-
all star cap'ns announced: Pastrnak, Ovechkin, MacKinnon and McDavid, no real surprises

I hear that. The main takeaway hockey fans can agree on is 3v3 sucks.
