Thanks brother. It doesn't feel like there's much to me right now. The dysmorphia voice is pretty loud "you're so small!" This time its different because when those thoughts hit, I say "good! I need to be small- high speed & low drag
I'm 4 weeks out for ANW today and figure a high calorie day is due in case my met needs a reset button push.
IDK that my body even knows what Leptin is anymore, and yes, I know Leptin levels usually require more than one heavy meal. That being said, I've had better outcomes of late with one calorie spike vs my historical 24 and 48 feeds:
Scheduled refeed today (and it's my birthday- 43):
-minimal intake early in the day fasted w/o, 30P post/wo, 50P lunch,
-Big refeed dinner: 100P, 400C (100F), 80F
Target Daily Totals:
180P
408C
84F
~3100 calories (600 TDEE surplus)
Happy birthday! Great day for a refeed of course. Good to see you are so religious about counting. Helps inspire a lot of us I think :).

Thanks. I'm pretty off about my macro targets--have been for as long as I can remember.

Thanks Raynerd! Refeed is done. Managed to sleep through the night without my typical carb up induced Charlie horses. So happy birthday to me. With the carb up out of the way, I can buckle down the next 4 weeks and be really sharp come june4th.

Outstanding determination! You're keeping your foot on the pedal and leaving nothing to chance it seems.
You said with refeed out of way you're ready to take on the last month. Is that the last one, or are you going by feel?
What goals are you visualizing? Do you wanna come in at 168-9?
When the competition comes, how will your training change if at all? Like, is it good to do a big pull-up session within 24-48 hours of competition? Will raising carbs close to competition help with mood, sleep etc?
You always hear about bodybuilder looking and feeling 2x as good the day after their post show splurge (therefore, would a nice all you can eat meal be appropriate the night before a competition?) however this is sport training so I'm very interested in your experience of it.
Or would that put your protein trained self into some sort of shock (the leg Charlie's you mention)?
What kind of grip work are you doing?
Does the show send qualified competitors any training diet suggestions? Or do they assume you made it this far just keep doing what you're doing?
Anyways I'm glad you're keeping up this journal, it's absolutely fascinating.

I will take one of those with a large coffee ;) Looks tasty.

It's a big opportunity to do something good for special needs kids and their families.
You said with refeed out of way you're ready to take on the last month. Is that the last one, or are you going by feel?
Yup last one. I may shift macros around here and there but I won't overfeed again until July.

172 and "OMG somebody get that guy a sandwich"

I'll just taper that week before. More BW, nothing too heavy. Likely playon the obstacles at Tempest Free Running Academy for fun/warmup. I won't change my diet really. I might take some melatonin to help me adjust to the nightshift (they film from 10pm to 4 am).

Most bodybuilders that say that have screwed up during their prep week. This isn't a bodybuilding event so there's no point in trying to "dry down" beyond my normal self (which should be as diced as anyone on the show).
Or would that put your protein trained self into some sort of shock (the leg Charlie's you mention)?
for athletic endeavors I've always believed in eating the same foods during as you did in training.
What kind of grip work are you doing?
Dead hangs, jump to holds, bar transfers, kettle bell toss&catch, farmers walks, plate pinches, rope work, grenades (hangs, pulls, curls, presses), juggling, bouldering, etc
Does the show send qualified competitors any training diet suggestions? Or do they assume you made it this far just keep doing what you're doing?
Nope.
Anyways I'm glad you're keeping up this journal, it's absolutely fascinating.
I haven't put a lot of detail in here, just to avoid any retroactive coaching head aches later on. When this is all done, I'll start back with the daily logs if there's still an interest.

IIFYM :)

I may have to try that pie Chris. The macros are great in it, just what I need to get the protein up and carbs down right now.
-
You are absolutely shredded man. Definitely IN on this one.

Thanks. I'm pretty skinny right now for sure.
24days to Ninja.
Fundraiser at $4655

Thanks Chris for all the details.
I'm really blown away by the need for a carb up only once a month. I'm beginning to think I'm brainwashed into needing frequent carb ups.
What does a carb up do for you then if protein provides all the muscle glycogen you need ( I think right?)?
-
Nice piece on the TV Chris and I trust it's all going well :)
Just looking amazing in that new avi ... I didn't think it was possible to get more diced but you've done it! I'm sure it's tough keeping that balance between maintaining strength and motivation and stripping the BW down so that the BW work on ninja becomes easier
Awesome what you're doing

I feel like it bumps my metabolism. Maybe helps feed my thyroid.

Thanks! I think they did a nice job. Didn't hurt the fundraiser any.
This ninja stuff is really starting to soak in. Bought plane tix and hotel reservations today.
Ordered a new Cap shirt to help motivate me for the final push to June.

Love it! I wish I could fill it out like that though
It's a pretty cool theme ... I can imagine you've had a few CA requests for prostheses

Shirt is bad ass but I couldn't pull it off with my BF% :)

Love the new shirt... I haven't seen that one before.

Limited run that ran out almost immediately. Had to get mine off eBay.
Just got off the phone with my producer. A little bummed out, NO Capt shirts. No logos of any kind (even have to cover up the tiny UA logo on my shorts.

You'll so rock that shirt Chris!
I'm not surprised about the logo thing .... they'd be pretty tight to make sure they any marketing generates money for them
-
I was hoping they would come out with a Winter Soldier UA but no luck.
Post some training vids with the new shirt at least ;) Anything new and unique in the training regiment?? I always enjoy your creativity.

Nothing too unusual. I have been running/leaping/bounding the drainage ditches here in town to help prep for quintuple steps. Passers by seem to think I'm a nut.
Aside from that it's pretty standard stuff.
Here's a clip from late in today's workout. I was pretty well spent (90 mins in).

Then I saw this. LOL, hope I do better than the Try Guys.

lol... that was good. I am pretty sure you will do better than those guys all put together ;)
Ropes to high bar transitions look tough... you are looking very lean and agile in that video.
Have you changed any of your supplements? Creatine still in the mix? I know you dropped fish oil... any other changes?
-

Damn Lawyers... If I do well on the show, gonna tease UnderArmour on Twitter about it.

Thanks. I was pretty tired at that point. Video'd it because one of the guys commented on my stiff elbow position on the ropes ("keeping the L's" he called id) and I wanted to see what I was doing.
Diet strategy is pretty much unchanged. Still creatine. Sitting at 2350 per day. I am eating entirely too many Quest Chocolate chip cookie bars though. Did you know that two cookie bars with 2 table spoons of butter sandwiched between them is an amazing thing? Better than any ice cream sandwich and it has a good amount of protein, fiber, and the saturated fats I like so much.
-
Looking super strong in the video Chris. That shirt will look great on you, wouldn't look that great on me though. I am going to try a version of your chocolate nog pie tomorrow, with vanilla Powder and apple slices. I will let you know how it goes.
-
Been meaning to try those bars, though not a huge fan of butter. Does ANW not have any sponsors that they let/make you wear? Seems like an opportunity for UA. Though who knows how much they want to charge for something like that. Looking good and strong in the video.
-
Loved the vid Chris, I would be a tad worried about the "Try" guys but I am sure you may be able to kick it up to their level once at the show :p
Looking awesome, and so effortless and tossing around your BW!
-
I can't eat Quest bars... they sit in my intestine like rock lol but it does sound tasty... I love butter.

Just visited your giving site, and I'll be back as soon! Give it hell!
