MISC Firearms Crew III: Covering Fire!
Rule 1: Don't come in here to troll or bash firearms owners. You will be swiftly negged.
Rule 2: Don't be afraid to ask questions, but be sure to actually look around a bit before you do. Chances are, you'll be able to find the answers you're looking for with this nifty little tool called Google. You can also select "Search Thread" in the upper tool bar.
Rule 3: DO NOT ASK WHAT GUN YOU SHOULD BUY FOR CONCEALED CARRY. This is not only an impossible question to answer for you, personally, but we're all tired of repeating ourselves.
Rule 4: Don't bash other posters about their purchases. If you want to make a suggestion, or relate personal experiences, it's all good. If you want to flame your buddies, that's cool. But don't come in with a superiority complex.
Rule 5: This seems obvious, but it's happened previously. Do not link to any illegal firearms instructions, or sites. Not only can the thread be shut down, but we don't want Big Brother eying our internets because you wanted to show us how to make improvised explosives.
Rule 6: You know what to do.
BRB: Operatin'
Please read the instructions at the bottom of this post if you are new to shooting, are looking for your first weapon, or need to know what weapon is best for concealed carry.

PLEASE DO NOT ASK "WHAT GUN SHOULD I GET FOR X" EVER AGAIN. OKAY? OKAY. HERE GOES:

If you have never fired a weapon before, follow these instructions. If you have, skip to the next section.
-Go to your local range/gun club
-Let the staff know that you are inexperienced and would like to take a basic safety course
-After doing that, either enroll in a beginner's rifle/shotgun course, or rent a longun and ask a range officer to show you the basics
-Once you've gotten the hang of basic marksman mechanics, look into purchasing a .22 rifle or 12 gauge shotgun to continue practicing on. If you feel comfortable, a .223 combat rifle can also be a great place to learn the fundamentals of combat marksmanship
If you have fired a weapon before and understand the basics of weapon manipulation and employment, follow these instructions:
-Rent/shoot a few different weapons in the platform you are interested in becoming more proficient with
-Once you've found a specific weapon system that you use well, purchase one
-Enroll in the appropriate courses for that weapon and the shooting style it compliments. Continue to build your pedigree with the weapon ad infinitum
If you are a proficient handgun shooter looking for a carry weapon, follow the second set of instructions
Get it? Got it? Good.
