For owners of reverse hyper, do you leave your plates on there? I'm just wondering if leaving plates on the swing arm will have any negative effect on the bearings in the long run.
I'd love to leave my plates on there as it's such a PIA for me to load/unload them, but I don't want risk damaging the functionality of the equipment.
I never unload it. Hell, the guys at Westside have plates welded onto one of theirs IIRC.
Mine stays loaded all the time. I leave 330lbs on there, but will adjust as necessary.
I leave mine on. If the bearings can handle it swinging it surely can handle it just hanging.
I was actually more interested in how much weight the 1" rod could support without bending. Turns out I'm not nearly smart enough to do that math.

A local strongman/powerlifting gym near me has 2 hypers. One is loaded with 200 lbs, and one with 6 or 700 lbs. They never take the weight off!
Good to know. Thanks guys. I don't plan on leaving a ton of weight on there at a time. I'm thinking anywhere between 2-4 plates.

Yes, they have 400lbs welded on one of the originals. I personally leave 3 plates on each side of mine for years...haven't noticed a thing.
You could leave 3000 lbs on there and not mess up the pillow blocks.
