Sticky Thread Sticky: The Bench Form Thread

We see a lot of threads asking for bench form critiques on this forum. I feel like most of these threads are made because people don’t know how to critique their own form. They just don’t know what to look for. I’m hoping to narrow that gap with this thread. I’m not going to touch on everything,...

Advice for keeping forearms verical for bench?

I have recently recorded myself bench pressing and I noticed that my elbows seem to go behind the bar on a few reps as I lower the weight. I have no issue keeping an arched back, retracted scapula, and an “arc” bar path as I press the weight. However, I have an issue keeping the forearms vertical...

Question Is it true that HIIT helps more with preventing shortness of breath?

Despite me doing 10 mins of cardio everyday, simple tasks such as climbing the stairs or even just getting up from a chair can suddenly make my heart rate skyrocket. I read that it has to do with the fact that its a sudden motion that your body requires oxygen in so little time, and that running...

5x5 While trying to lose weight

Hi all, I'm in a bit of a predicament right now. I'm 30 6'0 and 404 lbs, down from 445. I do the 5x5 routine because I like its simplicity and seeing the numbers rise every time, and also because I have a power rack and barbell set in my home. I've come to a point in which my lifts are getting...

Rapid strength decrease

I stopped going to the gym for about a week, and ate bad foods/ not enough. Pull ups went down to 11, was at 16. Push ups were at 20! when I had 63. But if I start training again I will get those numbers back easily. But why so rapid if I stop? Muscle still looks the same maybe a little smaller.
