New to Running help

Hi, I'm 5'6 and about 142 lbs. I went through a depression from October through February pretty badly. I was previously 132-135 lbs. I wasn't exercising. I started strength training twice a week and running to help lose the fat and weight. It's been a month now and my legs are bigger than they...

DB Presses....Straight up or Touch at the Top?

I've gone back and forth with this one. I see some guys, most in fact, just press straight up and others bring DB's together at the top and touch together. My first thought is touching may give a better final contraction; no? And I'm talking about chest presses; not shoulder. And I'm thinking...

Is it unusual to not feel my chest being worked until AFTER a set of bench presses?

Currently running SL 5x5 right now but I am to weak to lift the bar so I work with a pair of 20ish LB dumbbells for time being, doing 5 sets of 5-8 reps. While doing the presses, I try to keep my feet on the ground and my back arched. For whatever reason, I don't feel the contraction of my pecs...

Most obscure exercise that you love, and why...

There are 2 fairly obscure exercises that I've added to my program the last 2 months that have really impacted my training in a positive way. The first is a JM press. I credit this exercise as the which broke me out a long time bench max plateau. The second is a belt squat. After 2 herniated disks,...

Tips on progressing with assisted pull up machine?

I've been using the assisted pull up machine, each week taking away a little more weight. I'm down to only 45 lbs on the stack and can't get 3 sets of 10 in, after warm ups with more weight. My goal is of course to be able to do body weight pull ups. Should I just stay on 45 lbs week after week and...
