Sticky Thread Sticky: The Bench Form Thread

We see a lot of threads asking for bench form critiques on this forum. I feel like most of these threads are made because people don’t know how to critique their own form. They just don’t know what to look for. I’m hoping to narrow that gap with this thread. I’m not going to touch on everything,...

What kind of belt is this?

I broke a belt on a piece of equipment and I want to fix it. It looks like a car serpentine belt. I have a picture of it but it will not let me post it. It’s about an inch wide and really hard. It is folded over and bolted down to the equipment.

Need advice on overactive traps

My traps are overdeveloped compared to the rest of my shoulders and back muscles, and because of this I have a really bad habit of shrugging during exercises like cable rows and face pulls. Can I get some help or cues on keeping my shoulder blades relaxed during these lifts?

Why don't I feel bench press in chest?

I use a flat bench with dumbells because it's the only equipment I have access to right now. When I do bench presses though I feel it way more in my triceps than my chest.

No mind-muscle connection with right bi

My right bicep is the only thing I just can’t focus and get a contraction on. I never really developed that connection early on. I suspect using mixed grip DL’s at that point have something to do with it, considering I can contract my right tricep way better than my left while my left arm is bicep...

What's with people tearing their pecs all of a sudden while bench pressing?

We all know about Ryan Crowley's pec tear that happened a few weeks back. But if you know who Nick Wright is, he also tore his pec while benching a few months back. Cable Pull Through - time to quit it?

I started doing cable pull throughs in January when I started cutting, work on that mind-muscle connection to hip hinge glutes and hams. Replacing bicycle crunches

My daughter and I are doing a full-body dumbell workout and I chose bicycle crunches for abs because as far as I know they target the most muscles. But I've read that these can actually weaken the center of the abs over time, causing them to spread out and giving the impression of a 'pooch' (this...

What is your (or what you think to be) biggest mile bench milestone? I was having a conversation with someone that just hit 140lb for a set of 1 and he was saying that he heard 135lb is a big or very important mile stone for most people. I personally think the biggest milestone is 225lb....
