Sticky Thread Sticky: The Bench Form Thread

We see a lot of threads asking for bench form critiques on this forum. I feel like most of these threads are made because people don’t know how to critique their own form. What's with people tearing their pecs all of a sudden while bench pressing?

We all know about Ryan Crowley's pec tear that happened a few weeks back. But if you know who Nick Wright is, he also tore his pec while benching a few months back. Nick's form when it occurred wasn't too bad, unlike Crowley...Nick touches his chest every time he benches so i'm not sure how or why...

Replacing bicycle crunches

My daughter and I are doing a full-body dumbell workout and I chose bicycle crunches for abs because as far as I know they target the most muscles. But I've read that these can actually weaken the center of the abs over time, causing them to spread out and giving the impression of a 'pooch' (this...

What is your (or what you think to be) biggest mile bench milestone? I was having a conversation with someone that just hit 140lb for a set of 1 and he was saying that he heard 135lb is a big or very important mile stone for most people. I personally think the biggest milestone is 225lb....

Hey everyone, I'm looking for a little guidance here. I have always loved lifting and going to the gym when I was younger, and how my muscles feel under load and of course the soreness of recovery. But in the past 15 years or so, work and life just got in the way. I recently purchased a small...

Need advice on overactive traps

My traps are overdeveloped compared to the rest of my shoulders and back muscles, and because of this I have a really bad habit of shrugging during exercises like cable rows and face pulls. Can I get some help or cues on keeping my shoulder blades relaxed during these lifts?

Possible to train arms without straining elbows?

I've been dabbling in full body workouts for the past few weeks now and I am wondering if the best option for such workouts is in a circuit format or as a more run of the mill format with rests. Any thoughts?

Unhappy Deadlifts are to lower back like extensions are to triceps.

No matter warmup, hand position, foot position, hip height. You name it. Deadlifts to me hit my low back like tricep extensions hit my triceps. What am I missing? My deadlift is so weak that i can pretty much barbell row with perfect form, horizontal back, what I can deadlift.
