Sticky Thread Sticky: The Bench Form Thread

We see a lot of threads asking for bench form critiques on this forum. I feel like most of these threads are made because people don’t know how to critique their own form. They just don’t know what to look for. I’m hoping to narrow that gap with this thread. I’m not going to touch on everything,...

Room Temperature Make a Big Difference?

I workout in the backyard at night, but during the winter months the weight feels twice as heavy outdoors. Is there a scientific reason for this, and does the cold put more tension on the muscles being worked as it feels much harder to complete the same workout that I do at the gym? Is it...

Question Can trap bar deadlifts replace squats?

Hi, So I have been doing the a strength program (Texas Method) with deadlifts, shoulder presses and bench press as the main movements. I have a shoulder injury so I cannot do back squats - it hurts alot and it will only get worse. I've been trying to train myself for weeks to do front...

Quick and simple question. I simply can't do neither right now, as I'm out for a few weeks to let my shoulder recover after getting pain in my deltoid / rotator cuff area. I'm dropping delt raises and also trying to find the safest alternative for my shoulders. So I'm going to keep this...

Cable fly advice

Hi, What position do you have the pulley in? High, medium or low? Do you cross your arms over or not? Do you lean forward or not? This is in front of the standing dual cable machine. Sorry for all the questions just not sure on this excersise and just started a new routine with it in. Thanks.

Unhappy Should I use the smith machine because it's safer than bench pressing?

I did bench presses today and I couldn't finish my last rep. It was super embarrassing. The bar was pinning me down to the bench. I managed to sit up, but I didn't have the strength to lift it off me. I sat there for about 30 seconds helplessly, unable to move the bar. Eventually, I managed...

Hello! I'm 24 and after high school, I spent 5 years literally seated and eating unhealthy food (college). Loosing strength

Hey guys, I went on a two-week vacation and I didn't really lift much. I also took those weeks to cycle off of my creatine. When I got home and back into the gym, I went from benching 245 to 210. Is that just because I need to get back into the cycle or did I really loose all those gainz? I'm...

Something i've never seen before

So I was looking around google for advice on how to improve on squat form, and found the strangest thing. It was a front loaded squat(he lists it as a front squat), but the guy was using an underhand grip, like you see at the top of a barbell curl. I thought hmm, that's unusual. Is there a formal...

Shoulder pops on one side during OHP, wut do?

Running Fierce 5, I've had a 45 lb OHP before with no issues. I'm at 25 right now and once I hit 25 my left shoulder has started popping. It is my weak side and only at 25 is when it pops, no pain at all just a light pop while I'm raising the barbell up. I finish my sets with no issue, can probably...

Glute bridge/thrusters vs. hyperextensions/glute ham raises but without knee flexion.

Which one is better for the glutes? I can't do a full glute ham raise, I can't do the knee flexion part. From either tightness or weakness in my hamstrings or hip flexors. So I'm looking to strengthen and/or loosen my posterior chain. I'm thinking strengthening my glutes will help with that.
