Bracing for leg press

Hi guys just a quick one - are you meant to brace your core for this movement the same way you would for a barbell squat? I increased the weight for this exercise yesterday and felt a nasty sharp pain in my lower back, so obviously I'm not doing it right. Any advice? Thanks gents.

Just did upright rows today…

With an EZ bar, up to 70 lbs and didn’t feel any pain. Wide-ish grip to the chest level, led with the hands. Did some dips after and ditto, no pain. Sorry for the silly thread, I’m bored and felt like sharing my personal victories!
