"feeling" a muscle work

I've always had issues with feeling my hamstrings "work" on curls. No matter what concentric/eccentric rep speeds I use, iso holds, holding at the contracted position etc, I can't really feel them besides fatigue How important is it to feel a muscle working? Rep speed? Mind muscle connection?
