Sticky Thread Sticky: The Bench Form Thread

We see a lot of threads asking for bench form critiques on this forum. I feel like most of these threads are made because people don’t know how to critique their own form. They just don’t know what to look for. I’m hoping to narrow that gap with this thread. I’m not going to touch on everything,...

Arrow Sticky Thread Sticky: The Fundamentals of the Back Squat

Question I need leg exercises that won't exacerbate my anterior pelvic tilt.

Seems like squats are out, unless I do them upside down on a leg press machine with my lower back pressed firmly against a bench or something. And I don't own a leg press machine. Just lowering the weight hasn't worked, because I still keep overextending my back and my anterior pelvic tilt...

I got bigger biceps. Now want big triceps.

I followed a workout "program" that I saw on a website that promises you to increase your biceps by up to 2.5 cm in just two months by doing 40 chip-ups a day. I'm just over 1 month in, and I measured my arms flexed and indeed I got about 1.6 cm. They were 31 cm flexed before and now are 32.5...

Am I neglecting inner chest by using weighted dips as my primary push movement?

Without gyms, I've been using weighted dips as my primary chest/tri exercise. I do close grip dumbell presses to end my workout (and sometimes incline, but ive actually found dips hit my upper chest) but I only have 30s so it's not really a strong stimulus. My question is am I neglecting my...

Push-Pull Imbalance

Would you consider someone who can do a set of 6 BW dips but not even 1 pull-up to have a push-pull imbalance? Let’s just say they don’t bench bars or dbs.

Extremely pale after lifting heavy

So yesterday I pushed myself to the limit doing db curls until failure. Afterwards, I looked at myself and was extremely pale. But I felt fine. Anyone else experienced this?

Tried to Impress my Wife Today

So I’m working out in the basement trying to get my scrawny ass some muscle and I’m about to start bench pressing. My wife comes down to check on me, so I throw a full plate on each end, which I have done in the past but not recently. I unrack it and lower it to until it barely touches my chest,...

Traps taking over for delt exercises?

Hey guys, I've noticed that I can feel my traps quite a bit during rear flys and shoulder press. Shoulder press probably needs the stabilization, but should I really feeling them on a rear delt isolation exercise?

Close grip pin press good for tricep hypertrophy?

I recently learned about the close grip pin press. Would these be good for triceps hypertrophy? My first instinct is to say "no" because of the momentary pause on the pins between reps. Probably great for building strength though.

Hang clean and press

What muscles does this excersize hit? My guess is side felt, front delt, traps as the 3 primary.

Angry Full Body Stretching Routines

My body is in tatters and i've finally gotten around to the point to admitting i've never really stretched or rolled out in the past 6-7 years of weight training (quite heavy at times) and i'm currently 21. Can anyone point me in a good direction or a stretching routine which focuses on all...

Single leg calf raise. Anyone do these?

I used to train with 250 for reps with standing barbell calf raises. I swapped to single leg calf raises and I’m only just hitting the same reps with a 30lb dumbbell. I guess it makes sense though since I’m 170 so with 250 each calf would be getting 210. With the 30 dumbbell each calf is getting...

Question Vacuum stomach

Hello. For the past few months I have been trying out the vacuum stomach move (mostly to to help strengthen my postpartum stomach back up). However, I am unsure if you continue to not breathe once you let all the air out? That’s what I have been doing (not breathing at all) and I wasn’t sure if...

Safe to lift with face mask on?

Neck work

In regards to working the neck, are there any exercises which can hit all the muscle areas of it simultaneously? I ask because I don't wanna do like 4 different exercises just to hit the front, back, and sides. Is there like a neck compound? Weighted head circles or something?

Feel Bench Press in Lats More Than Chest

My lats seem to be dominating all my pushing movements (bench, push ups, etc.). When I squeeze and contract my pecs, my lats also contract (I can't flex my pecs while keeping my lats relaxed).
