Sticky Thread Sticky: The Bench Form Thread

We see a lot of threads asking for bench form critiques on this forum. I feel like most of these threads are made because people don’t know how to critique their own form. They just don’t know what to look for. I’m hoping to narrow that gap with this thread. I’m not going to touch on everything,...

Wrist Roller vs Forearm Curls? Both? One?

I am very interested in improving my forearm strength and increasing flexibility due to some repetitive stress injuries I have from things like computer use and boxing. I bought a rack-mounted wrist roller and it's incredible compared to a handheld unit. It seems like I can purely isolate the...

Front Squats

So I recently tweaked my low back. Nothing serious, but definitely a yellow flag. I’ve chosen to sub in front for back squats to ease up on my posterior chain so I can continue to progress on deadlifts without pre-fatiguing my lower back (I follow up squats with deads), and so far it’s going well....

Will Overhead Press only fuk up your traps?

It's well known that too much bench will mess up your shoulders because the opposite side is weak. I've been doing overhead press only for a while because gym got coronaed. My neck/traps have been hurting, is this something similar to the bench/shoulder problem?

I lift at home and I have dumbbells only. I'm trying to build bigger triceps. I have bad elbows (cubital tunnel syndrome) and there are certain exercises I can't do. Diamond pushups and overhead extensions are two examples I just can't do. I bench press at 30 and 45 degree angles. I do most of...

Lifting exercises that are low impact on wrists

I was diagnosed with carpal boss or bone overgrowth on my left wrist, which started acting up when I did heavy overhead shoulder presses and flat bench. I realize now my terrible form grip did not help either. Was told to rest it and keep it in a brace until the pain goes away, which I plan on...

EZ bar curl for row?

I'm fairly new to fitness and today I just tried the bendover row with a barbell. I used an underhand grip for more Lat activation but my wrist started hurting--a sharp pain my hands. Does incline bench help your flat?

I have been stuck at 135 lbs for a couple months now on my flat bench; would switching to incline BB bench for a while help get me past my plateau? Anyone have experience with the Nautilus lat pulldown? Is there a big difference between this and the typical lat pulldown? I feel my lats work a tad bit more on the Nautilus machine. I find it convenient you can adjust your grip mid set though I normally just use a neutral grip on it.

I can't even do one pull up. How do I progress?

I work out at home and all I have available is a pull up bar and dumbbells. I can't even do one pull up. From what I've read, the only thing I can do is hang on the bar as long as I can, do some Australian pull ups, and negative pull ups. Anything else I can do? Do bent over DB rows help?
