Left side catch up

Hi guys, took my 6 weekly measurements Sunday and for the 4th time my left upper arm is lagging behind the right - difference of 1.5cm but noticeable. I'm thinking of adding a couple sets of Dumbell alternating curls at the end of my upper sessions to help isolate and focus on the left? Just not...

I'm convinced dumbbell rows hurt my spine

The nerves in my spine have been hurting for about a week now. Every time I do dumbbell rows, my back always starts to hurt and I can't even do cardio without pain. This happens every time. Maybe I am not doing it correctly, but at this point, I don't think this exercise is worth it anymore....

Legs with a lower back injury

Super bummed, I tweaked my lower back for the first time in years. I accidentally maxed out on deadlifts two weeks ago, and the nail in the coffin was deciding to incline press with with my feet up... sent me straight into flexion. SMH @ myself. Anyway, I’m going to get myself set up with a...

I think I was overtraining my legs with cardio.

I noticed a pain above my knees, like the connective tissue or tendons where getting strained. I thought that was a weakness I'd have to strengthen. So I did my exercises where I could. I've been going to the gym across the street, 30 minutes here, 30 there, 2-4x a day most days getting my...

Home Gym Arm exercise questions

Hello, I have a home gym which consists of a barbell and two dumbbells and a barbell and given the limited equipment I have the following questions: For Biceps: 1) I am thinking of doing alternate dumbbell curl and a vanilla barbell curl. Are these two exercises enough to develop the...

When does squating require a belt?

At what weight do you start needing to wear a belt to squat? Same weights as body weight? More? When I was 150 and squating 135 pounds, I did not feel the need for a belt. Using a belt may let you grow more impressive legs, but are they functional if they need a belt to exert maximum force?...

Anyone ever incorporate multiple pauses in any lift?

I haven't experimented with this but am curious if anyone else has. IE, pause at the bottom of a squat and then halfway up, or 1" off the ground with the deadlift and again around the knees, etc. I feel this may be useful for people who are much stronger at lockout than at the beginning of the...

How to spare my back when skating?

ATM, the issue applies to inline skating, but in a few months I'll be cross-country skate skiing, and there's a small possibility I'll use "real" skates. So my inline skating technique isn't that bad, I've noticed little muscle use difference between when I focus on keeping it right and my normal...

Where to start for a skinny runt?

Hey guys just wondering where I should start with limited equipment, all I have is a barbell and a pair of dumbbells and what ever exercises I can do without equipment. But I have no idea what I should do or how much. I had a rough few months and lost 8kg and I was still skinny before that, I'm...

Favorite glute exercises?

I'm trying to find more effective ways to hit the glutes without doing "perv humps" with the cable machines or barbell thrusts. I rarely care what other people think but I draw the line at giving people images that will cause them to dry heave. So far I've found stiffleg deadlift and/or...

Squats: Quads or Glutes as primary mover?

Despite the full-body tension and direct involvement of adductors, abductors, calves, the quadratus lumborum and other minor muscles, the concentric motion of the squat seems to be primarily driven by the glutes and the quads. Furthermore, beneath the conventional sticking point seems to be mostly...

Anyone had a Latarjet procedure done?

Hello. I had a history of dislocations and decided to get a latarjet shoulder surgery done 6 months ago. Prior to the surgery I was told I should be able to return to everything with time. Now I am not so certain of it. My deadlifts and squats are almost back to normal and looking strong, but I can...

Fit Me doesn't look good - need bodybuilding advice

So some years ago, I lost 100 pounds in 18 months by going to the gym 5 days a week and eating right. Besides the weight-loss, my goal was to get fit for rock-climbing, so I went after functional fitness and didn't put too much emphasis on looks. In the meantime, I unfortunately have put on quite...

Does it matter feeling the muscle

I had read here several times from several people that "you don't need to feel the muscle during an exercise, because it will grow anyway" when someone opens a thread, complaining he doesn't feel his chest working during bench, for example. (I don't understand how, though, but there are people who...

Pronation and supination weight used

I am doing this for rehab for tennis elbow, so I know heavy weight is not indicated. I think it might help my golf as well. However, like all guys, I have to know if what I am lifting is in the right ball park. For example: if I could deadlift twice my body weight that would be above average....

Proper Deadlift to Squat ratio?

My deadlift is pretty much two time what I can squat. However, my quads are stronger than my hamstrings on the leg curl machines. Is this normal? I heard that the strength ratio should be 1:1 for athletes But when it comes to Squat to Deadlift, we should be squatting 90% of our deadlifts. ...
