Classic dumbbell vs barberll bench thread

I've been incline pressing (lowest setting though, so probably in between normal incline and flat) 105 lb dumbells for 5x5. I have to be able to bench 225 for at least a couple right? Haven't done barbell in forever cause no spotter and hate setting up in the squat rack.

Sumo squat depth

Why would it be harder for me to hit depth with a wide stance? It’s difficult for me not to A2G narrow squats, but I can only barely get the crease of my hip tonline up with the top of my knee with a wide stance. Hip flexor inflexibility?

Lean bulking...do I need ab exercises?

I skipped my ab exercise because I got so bored. I don’t feel anything unless I go for 15-20 reps. And I get bored by the time I reach that number. I do sit-ups while holding a 6lbs bag. I want to know if I can just stop doing abs. I do: squats: 245lbs 3 x 5 Front squats: 195 3 x 8...

Bench plateau, help in increasing bench

Hello, I am looking for help in increasing my bench press. All my other lifts see progression. I have been lifting for 5 years. I do tend to have to reset programming and start fresh after the summer's as I'm in the military and train all summer long, which leads to weight and strength lose. ...

Cool What's an impressive OHP?

I really don't see many folks around here do this lift and if they do its usually like 90-115 pounds for half reps in the commercial gyms I train at. I feel like I've gotten pretty strong at this compared to the lifters around the gyms I train at but am wondering what the strong people around...

Importance of rest for beginners?

I've done a bit of research on how many times people should workout per week to avoid overtraining but have seen some mixed responses. Some sources say only train a muscle group up to twice a week while others say that beginners can afford to train more because the damage isn't as severe as it is...

Chin-ups/ pull-ups vs rows

During a pull-up or chin-up, the shoulder joint goes from full extension to full flexion.During a barbell row, the shoulder joint goes from slight extension to full flexion. Other wise they work more or less the same muscles (correct me if I’m wrong, please). So with that said, am I wasting my...

Forearm pain confusion

So we never really had a Forarm workout in our routine, and I decided to add some Hammer Curls as that was lacking on Friday. We don’t work out on the weekend, so come Monday I’m doing bench press. I feel no soreness in my forearm, but my bench is much more difficult. Like I’m able to do the...

Dumbbell bench; lower body workouts

I recently invested in a dumbbell bench (Gold's Gym XR 5.9). I am aiming to lose some lower body weight to shrink my pants size (I'm currently 42") shooting for a 38" waist. Anyone have any recommendation for exercises that can be done to help and improve my lower body? Currently, I use it...

Major Fatigue After Leg Day

Full range vs. String point

Oops. Vs strong point. I’m Curious to see what people think of this. I’ve been lifting for decades. Was brought up that full range is the way to go anything else is cheating. But I’m starting to think that there’s potential to build more muscle growth by focusing on the sweet spot of an...

Joker exercise helped a little

I saw a video of Maximillion Dood playing Mortal Kombat with the Joker and sometimes the Joker would win and then he would do this dance where he lifted his legs backwards and hopped and stuff. Well, I did that and it helped a little with the catching in my knee. I wonder if anyone has any more...

Can't get arms 180 degrees overhead for plate raises, or anything. Help please

I recently started doing overhead Plate raises for traps but I noticed my shoulders won't go a full 180 degrees to be completely overhead, they don't have the mobility, never really noticed before. They go to about 145 degrees before my lower back starts to overarch massively to compensate. It's...

Push ups for muscle gain BEGINNERS

Hello all. I have always turned down push ups simply because I haven’t been able to do them. I have done lots of research on proper for and all that, I can max out a 15 in one go. As I am new to practicing form and everything, I’m not sure what a good workout plan would be to build muscles. My plan...

Rows enough for rear delts and traps?

Just as the title says, are rows enough for rear delts? I do 5x5 at 225+, after a warm up at 135 and 185, all overhand. I stopped doing shrugs a while ago and since then my traps have started growing with my renewed focus on rowing. I also do OHP 3x5 and close grip reverse lat pull downs 3x10 2...
