Deadlift progression

I was making progress on my deadlift steadily and then I moved and changed gyms. The gym I'm going to now doesn't have any plates smaller than 5lbs. I'm pretty small and trying to gain strength and size but having to add 10lbs makes it too heavy and I feel that I'm going to hurt myself. Any...

Sore Muscles After Intense Exercise?

I went to personal training to get ready for marine bootcamp and during the next 2 days my muscles were sore as hell. I missed personal training today because I was so sore and did not want to slow everybody down. Is there a quick way to heal sore muscles? I have been eating lots of protein and...

Unhappy Calf Question??

I used to lift a lot but took an 8 month break to focus on school. I already have poor leg genetics but the total muscle loss over 8 months gave me little twigs. I’m growing again but my calves seem to only be seeing real progress on the inner head of the gastrocnemius muscle. My ankles pop when I...

Bench Problem Diagnosis Please

I started lifting 2,5 months ago and have been bench pressing for chest since then but a few days ago I noticed that when I'm lowering the bar onto my chest a muscle right between my upper chest and shoulder moves. It doesn't make a sound , it doesn't POP , it just feels like one muscle going over...

Calisthenics + Bodybuilding [Military Basic Prep]

Srs Post. I’m considering joining a branch of the military. I was looking at increasing my cardio which I’m not worried about with my normal split, but I was also considering adding Pull-ups, push-ups, and abdominal work to my daily routines to help prepare myself for basic. Wondering if...

OHP Grip

I see conflicting information on proper grip spacing for standing OHP. What is the correct grip, let's say in relation to your shoulders? Or whatever other way you can clearly explain it. Thanks!

Abs Training

First off I know when doing ab training you hit all the abdominal muscles not just upper or lower. However, and this may be due to my personal genetics more than likely, I have huuuggee blocky upper abs and lil baby Lower abs. What are some techniques you’ve used personally to really grow some...

What do you think of WOOD under HEEL SQUATS?

I can't even get parallel when I squat (but pretty close). My BAD ankle forces my foot to turn out if I go lower. When I use the wood under heel I can get parallel to maybe even a little lower. Better to do 3/4 squat without wood? or Parallel Squat with Wood?

What exercise is this?

Say I'm standing and wanted to pull a weight from hanging with my arms straight, up along my torso as high as convenient, and then down again. Is there an established exercise that does this? I ask because I have hurt myself multiple times in daily life doing this, causing a strain in my upper...

Body weight exercises

Starting last November I got back in the weight room to improve my strength. Leading up to this I was around 154 lbs, could do 20 pull ups in a set, and was surfing daily. From November up until April this year I hit the weight room hard and went from 154 lbs to 200 lbs ( taking creatine, pre...

What constitutes a failed rep in bench press?

I do a 5x5 routine and I am struggling with my bench, often requiring a second attempt to complete 5x5. I did 70 lbs today and my first 3 sets went by alright, somewhat challenging but not taxing on me. On my fourth and fifth sets, I was able to do 4 reps easily but when I did the final rep for...

I'm thinking of adding step-ups to my exercise routine. I'm wondering is this an exercise I should do only on leg day, or more often, say several times a week? I've googled this but found nothing.

Pain warming up shoulders

Pain in left shoulder doing overhead press while doing warmup sets. Pain is kind of off to the side of the shoulder, but a little bit in the rear. Pain usually vanishes when doing maximum weight 1 or 2 sets in. Pain is mainly at the bottom of the movement. I've tried warming up with rubber bands...

Squat form check

SomxEBousA4 I can see I should pause more at the top and brace. But my question is that is there much addition benefit to going much lower on the squat as the last few inches seem to hurt my hips a little. Thanks;
