How to stop tilting on for shoulder presses?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obqDHgsKz9A&feature=youtu.be Did a set of 4 with 115 lbs. Didn't felt too bad but I could feel my shoulders having a muscle imbalance. Any tips to fix it or is it just in my head? EDIT: also yes I know I messed up the unrack.

Deadlift form check

Can I get some tips on how to improve my form? 105kg x 4 reps (this is the 5th set with the same weight, AMRAP, so I'm at my most fatigued). I've got long legs in comparison to my torso, looks a bit awkward (but doesn't feel that way). I feel the lower back muscles up to my traps after completing a...

Chosing Your Hip Hinge Wisely

Been awhile since I've posted something lifting related, and it seems like this subforum is a bit more active than it has. So here's a topic: Imo conventional deadlifts certainly are not always the best hip hinge for everyone. I REALLY dislike the notion of "must do exercises" and much prefer...

Workout today but sleep had been chitty...

Last 3 to 4 days sleep has been crappy due to work. 3 to 4 hours a night. Feel like a zombie. At work and it’s gonna be a 14 hour day. Supposed to workout later today - should I skip it or cut one set eat exercise? I tend to loose a lot of strength even if I skip one day for some reason. I...

Exercise Lockout, Time Under Tension, & Lifting Tempo

Hello, I can't seem to make up my mind / figure out what is preferable for my lifts to maximum muscle growth/development and strength gains. I'm on week 3 of a hypertrophy routine that followed a month of strength conditioning. Should I be locking out my limbs at the 'top' (at the end of the...

The importance of exercise

We all know that exercise is important in our daily lives, but we may not know why or what exercise can do for us. It’s important to remember that we have evolved from nomadic ancestors who spent all their time moving around in search of food and shelter, travelling large distances on a daily...

Deadlifting twice per week?

I am considering this for strength-adaptation purposes and am not much concerned with hypertrophy right now. It's been over half a year now that I have deadlifted once per week and there has been notable progress; particularly, my lower back no longer experiences DOMS or any signs of additional...

How close to lock out do you go with dips?

How close to lock out do you push. I've been stopping around a little past a quarter from the top, trying to stay where it feels the hardest. Down to a little past parallel and then up to around a quarter before lock out. However, I just read that the medial head of the triceps kicks in at the top.

Clean & press set considerations

Just wondering, is a proper set of the clean & press where you do the clean with the press each time(1 press for each clean), go back to start position and repeat the cycle each time? Or is it the other way I see where you only clean it once, and press it repeatedly, and then lower to start...

Body Trimbles

Good day everyone, I’m a 31yr male that weighs 137 pounds, whose height 5’5.” I know this is long over due for me but I’m kinda unhealthy and weak, my body shakes when lifting heavy things and I’m very thin. Yesterday I decided to work out and wanted to hold a push up position but my body...

How to get rid of bloated abdomen

Hi all I have a problem with my abs and wanted to know if there is anything I can do to fix this with special exercices (or nutrition?). I want flat abs, like most people. When I flex my abs / contract them / pull them in, I have a decent six pack and flat abs. As soon as I relax my muscles my...

Now that I’m back at it, I realize I’ve been lied to...

For two+ years I wasted my time in the gym thinking low reps high weight was the way to mass. Now that my gym is open I’ve been able to apply a technique taught to me by the most ripped person I know. You must get a “pump” to force blood into the muscles, making them grow. Instead of doing...

Deadlift vs trap bar deadlift

I know the trap bar is a safer option but I don’t get the same sense of accomplishment. Does one prove more motor unit recruitment than another?

Single-Leg Landmine Deadlifts!

In my quest to find a good single-leg hinge, I came across these and man do they really fire up the glutes and hamstrings. Much better than the barbell and dumbbell variants. I prefer to do these in a staggered stance (back leg on ground) with my leg parallel to the landmine instead of...

Pushing my knees out against my arms for the deadlift?

I've been deadlifting for a while and reached 3 plates recently. On a form check I did, I was told my techinque was good but my knees caved in at the beginning. Was recommended by someone to "push my knees against my arms" at the start to fix it. I had never done that before but I have seen Alan...

Neck pain from pull workout

Hello, I am having trouble trying to avoid neck pain when doing pull workouts with bands and dumbells. I get the pain from dumbell reverse flies, dumbell face lifts, rear delt rows. I don't have an incline bench so I do these in the bent over position and sometimes holding onto something for...

Can’t use enough weight on a hack sled vs leg press

Meant to say “as much” not “enough” ^^ Does anyone else who has used both of these exercises notice this? I do leg press with my feet higher up, turned out slightly and wider than shoulder width, and for hack squats I do my feet as high up on the platform, again with toes out and slightly...

Knee sleeves doing more harm than good?

Traditionally I'll put on knee sleeves on leg day due to my age and to keep my joints warmed up. I go through a full stretch that's about 15 mins, and then hit a round of machines to get the muscles loosed and blood flowing. LATELY, I've been using my knee sleeves and my the back of my right...
