Back Day... Controlled w/ Squeeze vs Bang-it-out

Hey guys, Just had a decent back day. Its my third gym sesh in three days, so I was feeling a little fatigued. Rest day tomorrow for sure. I noticed that many back workouts can either be done very controlled, with 1) minimum trunk movement and a squeeze at the end or 2) leaning back,...

Unhappy Losing sex drive after exercise

I started working out after 1 year break and have been doing this for 3 months now. Whereas I have not reached the same level of strength, I have strangely lost sex drive by over 70%. This was not the case in the previous years when I was working out. During the break, my drive remained the ame but...

Bench press unrack help.

Any tips to improve or strengthen the unrack? I keep finding that my unrack is weak and causing me to have a harder time with lifts. For example I just hit a 265lb 1rpm PR but on the first attempt I failed b/c my unrack caused me to be unstable and week. I don’t know if it’s shoulders or what but...

Getting bored of squats; bad idea to sub in leg press for time being?

For the longest time, I really only did squats and deadlifts with the occasional leg curl for lower body training. Since the last few months of 2019, I took my squat from 285 lbs to 340 lbs. My leg development was fairly decent but in that time period, I simply grew bored of the exercise. Would it...

Working around a torn meniscus

Looking for advice on how to train with a torn mensicus. A while back I started experiencing knee pain. My joint was clicking a lot, and my knee would feel really stiff. Took an MRI, which confirmed my suspicion of a meniscal tear. I’ve left legs completely out of my program, and my knee is feeling...

Upright Rows

Does anybody intermediate and onward do these? I've heard the risk of injury is high, and that it's a less than ideal exercise, besides. However, I'd like to include a compound lift that primarily hits the medial delts, and want to go beyond just doing lateral raises to train them. ...

Mini exercise bike Vs indoor bike

Is there any advantage purchasing a mini exercise bike over a regular indoor bike? I would like something for cardio so a mini exercise bike looks good for space saving but if it's not as good as a regular indoor bike then I'd give it a miss

Weighted ab exercises

I’ve gotten some decent results from cable crunches (upper abs are nice and thick), but I’m exhausting the amount of additional weight that I can add to the pulley machine after maxing the stack out. Any other suggestions? Hanging leg raises and rollouts kill my shoulders, and I already do a set of...

Need Help Growing Legs (Can’t Squat)

I’m 17 and have been lifting for about a year now. I’ve seen a lot of growth in my upper body but not so much in my legs. I like to think I train as hard as I can, but I’ve seen very little growth in my legs. Unfortunately, I suffer from a degenerative spine disorder and have been advised by...

Fasted Running Cause Muscle Loss?

I usually run 4-5 miles in the morning fasted (30-45 min) 5x a week. Would I lose any muscle during that period of the fasted state? I always make sure I eat 100-200 cals over my maintenance so I don’t lose muscle and I weight train 6x a week and get adequate protein intake. I’m just curious during...

Increased the weight on rows - don't feel it in my back anymore?

So when i started doing chest supported barbell rows at around 20kg, I felt it massively in my back after I finished the set. But now I'm doing 45kg and i don't feel it at all in my back. I just feel my arms but my form is exactly the same. Is this a sign that im increasing the weight too rapidly?

Deadlift back pain and how to manage it going forwards

Yesterday I maxed out on deadlifts @ 285 x 7 and hurt my back (felt pain right above the tailbone and still feel it today). Here's a video of the lift: drive.google.com/file/d/1My5dMuShUeg3j6hdzDUi3ip-ctSN97FQ/view?usp=sharing From what I can tell I'm not doing anything wrong technique-wise...

Stability ball leg curls suck

In the best of ways. I can leg curl 200 lbs for reps but 20 total reps in 3 sets of SBLCs absolutely trashed the back of my legs and left my magnificent glutes fried. If anyone wants a secondary posterior exercise to do and hasn’t tried these yet, give them a go.

Should I Invest in Belt or Knee sleeves?

I notice a lot of the guys at the gym pushing serious weight wear belts and knee sleeves when they train. I’m still not one of those guys yet but my lifts are starting to get tougher on my body so I’d like to do whatever I can to help avoid potential injury. Anyhow here are some relevant stats....

Hello, i have a question. I want to alternate my pull-ups and i dont know what is better. Chin up bigger than squat

I'm wondering how unusual this is. After two years of consistent weight training, I weigh around 170lb and the most I've squatted for 5 reps is 154lb. Now I could probably do that weight for 7 reps with good form, but I haven't progressed past it yet because doing it for 4-5 sets and I'm...

What is great alternative for lat pulldowns?

Hello. I'm doing the Fierce 5 dumbbell routine. Lat pulldowns are one of the exercise and I don't have a pull down. Do you know what's the best alternative for lat pull down? I was thinking pullovers but there are no biceps involved.

Gliding Leg Curl, hamstring knee flexion

Found this little gem via Bret Contreras, I guess he invented it? Knee flexion movement, alternative to Nordic Ham Curl. Harder than it looks. For me, I need to keep my hips extended and abs tight throughout, basically in a hanging plank the whole time. KlCOhWuPGBU 2ahYWM0yDT8
