Close crip bench press before standing military press/OHP?

Can someone explain what this would do? Or what it’s purpose is? Does it make your shoulders work harder because you have pre fatigued your arms and chest?

Dumb question about bicep/tricep balance

My usual weight for bicep curls is around 70lbs for 3x10, and for skullcrushers is 60lbs for 3x10. Since triceps are over 2/3rds of the mass in my arms, does this mean I have an imbalance (as in biceps are more developed then tri's)? Or do these two exercises often yield arbitrary weights to each...

Is 70 degree incline for bench press too much?

I have some issues with bench positioning inside a rack. If I set a bench at 45 degree, I can't properly unrack the bar, since my shoulders are in the same vertical as J-hooks. Only thing I can do is set a bench at 75 degree and put something under the front part of bench to make a degree slightly...

DB Fly and Sternum Pain

Hi Friends, Most people complain of sternum pain when doing dips, but for me DB flys lead to sternum pain. Is this exercise best avoided? Dips may sometimes give me slight pain in front delt but it goes away quickly. DB presses are no problem. But even days after flys, I am still having...

How low is too low for the Barbell Row?

Currently @ 70 lbs for my Barbell row for 5x5. The exercise isn't hard for me but trying to get a hang of proper form is the difficult part. I have short arms and everytime I try to row, I have to place the barbell on top of 45 lb plates. When I try to get into position, I unlock my knees where...

Arnold press vs overhead press

Hi Friends, It's said that regular overhead press (whether bb or db) hits front delts more than side delts, whereas arnold press hits both front and side delts. Is this really true? I have sensitive wrists and do not want to mess it up further by performing this movement unless the benefits...

Farmers Walk

I’m thinking of adding farmers walk to my routine 3-4 days a week. Is there carryover to any of the major compound lifts? Specifically: Deadlift Squat Overhead Press Bench. Thanks!

Are push ups overrated?

Of some reason push ups are one of the most common exercises. Is this just because of convenience or are they actually really good. The reason I am wondering is because I was wondering if I should start doing them in my strength training so I'll be better at them for kickboxing and school etc......

Cardio Question for Backpackers

Going backpacking in Colorado in July, figured I should start doing some cardio conditioning now because currently I do diddly squat. My question to you is; would it be better to do just a solid 30 minutes of a steep incline or do a set amount of mileage per workout? Really not looking forward...

How many sets is too many?

So now that I'm on creatine, my muscles seem to not tire much at all. But I don't want to think that doesn't mean I couldn't be overdoing my muscles with too many sets. Like I have been doing 1 warmup set squats, plus 4 sets at 6-8 reps, 2 sets each leg 6-8 reps squat lunge, 2 sets each leg...

Shoulders roll forward or too far back, shoulder pain pressing

5'10, 193 lbs, 14% I have my right shoulder that stays rolled forward. I've done an immense amount of lower trap/rhomboid work to try and pull it back to no avail. During bench press or any workout when I try to bring my shoulders down and back I find that I either have my shoulders forward...

What do you do when your bench press hits a plateau?

I've been training none stop for about a year now (I use to do karate). I remember when I could barely hit 10 and 15 on each side. Ever since I've hit 25, things have kind of slowed down. On good days I can do 30 or 28 but that's one rep. Am I being too hard on myself? Should I focus on volume...

How to calculate weight for mass building, how to progress

Hi, can anyone advise me how to calculate a proper weight for mass building? For example I can benchpress 100kg 5 times 90kg 8 times. Should I try to bench my record every time to muscle failure? Or calculate eg. 10% less and add 2,5kg to every workout? For dropset should I start from 100kg...

Lateral raises vs overhead press for shoulder day?

I just finished "shoulder day" on my split and have a question about the exercises I've chosen. I want to give the shoulders a well rounded workout that will benefit functional strength. I've chosen a seated rear delt fly for my rear delts, front DB raises for my front delts, but for the middle...

brachialis brachioradialis

I have been confused ever since I began studying this muscle. Biceps Brachii, Brachialis, Brachioradialis are all elbow flexor groups. As far as I know...its been said Brachialis is the strongest elbow flexor group of them all and it works whether the arm is Supinated, Neutral, or Pronated. ...

What are some of your favorite oblique exercises? Dumbbell side bends are stupid and I hate them, looking for something new. I'm considering seated barbell twists possibly?
