Lying leg curl problem?

Hi a week ago I started doing lying leg curls but I have a problem with this exercise on the machine it's written to keep the hips on the pad while lifting but I can't do that whenever I curl my lower back goes up and the weight doesn't affect that because it happens even with 1 plate. Is that ok?
