Q: Robert, you’re almost 75 and why do you lift and carry and push heavy things? You do know, yes, that you are old, that pushing yourself physically is not a good idea in your “twilight” years, and besides, you have the money surely to pay a another to do this for you? You should relax, go on senior bus tours as “normal” old men and women do. A: Good question. Let me put it to you simply: I like strength, power to live my life as I see it intended, will not slack and lifting and pushing and carrying flat out - afterwards - gives a sense of euphoria and peace and just a good and within bounds, self confidence. There is no formula that says after a certain age we stop pulling and straining and setting and meeting goals. Oh, now let me ask you a question? What did the doctor say to you last week? And, here is the closer, when you look in a mirror, are you really pleased with what you see? And if not, start immediately and through your neighborhood is fine, carry a heavy weight on two Farmer’s Bars. It’s only because I have done that - and push a sled - for over a decade that I had the “juice” digging three holes in a subsurface hard as steel yesterday. Two Weeping Willows and one pear tree will be planted today. The prep work done yesterday, a cloudy cool day, yes I had safety glasses on and the total cost was the water bill for one gallon of drinking water. Amen.
