Sticky Thread Sticky: "Fierce 5" Novice Routine

FIERCE 5 I decided to design "Fierce 5" because I wasn't completely satisfied with any of the other novice programs that are so popular. In my opinion they all had a flaw or two (slow progression, high volume, low enough volume people lose interest and most of them lack what I’d consider proper...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Beginner Powerbuilding Routine

I was asked about this by someone else, so I thought I'd share. I’m not a professional trainer, and although I do have a background in exercise physiology I have never worked in the field nor been up to date with it for the past 8 years. So you can do this if you wish, but if you get busted up, not...

Exclamation Sticky Thread Sticky: Full Body vs. Split Routines - Which to Choose?

Full Body Routines vs. Splits The question often arises, especially from beginners, about what type of routine to use. Your buddy told you to use a full body routine, but the muscle mags suggest a 5-day "bodybuilder" split. You don't want to start off on the wrong foot, but there is so much...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Viking's The Bare Bones Series

The big guy is back with another series of novice/early-intermediate routines - The Bare Bones programs - these are actually the first routines I made, just after I got my PT certification years ago. So I pulled them out of the graveyard, dusted them off and made a few tweaks and improvements to...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Training for STRENGTH vs. SIZE

MYTH: Low reps is for strength, high reps is for size. Although this contains a grain of truth, it leads to wrong thinking - the classic problem we get on this forum is the legion of novices who don't want to do novice routines because they contain 5 rep sets ... which are "for strength" not...

"Fierce 5" Comprehensive Program List

4 week bulk, 2 week cut method.

Will this work? A shorter cut because I feel it’s easier to drop weight after trying to bulk up so much. Also 2 weeks is enough for someone to from a short bulk.

Advice for Newbie! How much weight and when to stop?

Hi all - I'm working through the "Shortcut to Shred" program found here on the website and I'm trying not to get discouraged when I can't finish sets. The program recommends to choose a weight that's challenging at 10 reps, and not to reduce it if you can't finish the last few reps on the 3rd or...

Exclamation Advice on my body recomp plan - 3 weeks in

Some background info: I’ve been on and off the gym for years, but I’ve never made solid progress in terms of gaining sizeable muscle mass so I’m counting my self as a “gym noob” I’m 6’1.5 and 204lbs, 27 y/o and about 25-ish % body fat - aka long, slim limbs and I am skinny fat. So I decided...

Advice with my PPL Split

Hello everyone, I've came back to lifting weights after a good few years out. I'm one month in and things seem to be going alright. I was very weak at the beginning only being able to lift the bar for most of my lifts. I'm currently up to 65kg squat (5 reps), 80kg deadlift (1 rep max) ,...

Okay here's my situation. By the end of this month, I'll have completed 9 full months of Starting Strength. I'm very satisfied with the progress I made, but have made it to the point where I'm ready to try something new. I'd eventually like to move to a more "bodybuilding-focused" program in...

Anything wrong with doing a hypertrophy deload week?

I know most traditional deload weeks consist of taking the entire week off, or at least doing a much lower intensity within your regular routine. Would there be any problem with doing a high volume, low intensity week that is basically just iso pump days?

Apartment Gym Routine

Due to that ‘Rona I’m doing all my workouts aside from running in my small apartment gym. The gyms got a flat bench, an adjustable bench, dumbbells from 5-50, medicine balls up to 15 and a yoga ball. I’m a pretty serious lifter and my goal is to just maintain until the ‘Rona has subsided. Was...

Best routine rotation?

Me and my roommate are arguing about how often to rotate each muscle group, I am saying we don't need to hit every muscle group twice a week but he firmly believes we have to. my split is Mon: (full routine) Chest/Tri, Tue: Bi/Back (full routine), Wed: Legs (Squat day, quad intensive), Thur:...

Best Split for advanced natty lifters?

I would say intermediate but i feel like me and my roommate are both strong enough and been working out long enough to be considered advanced, definitely not pro but advanced amongst your average gym bro. Bro split program

Hear me out... I’ve done everything under the sun in terms of routines (PHAT, PPL, GVT, 531 etc) with reasonable lifts (385 bench, 585 DL, 455 squat) at < 198. Decent. But it seems in terms of hypertrophy working 1 body part per week is optimal for myself, and yes I know the research supports...

Can anyone recommend a high rep, low weight routine without the big lifts?

I've been doing Novice Fierce 5 for a while but as soon as I reached 175 lb squats(one month ago), I started dreading every workout. Every workout lasts 1h45 minutes and I'm tired all week. Also I have a small knee discomfort that adds to the issue. I've found that I really dislike lifting...
