This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Please add things that I have forgotten, and when everyone is done, I will compile it into a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide if...

Evening, I live in downtown Toronto and I want to get into powerlifting, but I have 0 experience being coached in the 3 lifts. I pretty much taught myself from reading Ripptoe, Wendler, and watching WSBB and EliteFTS videos. I'd like to get into a gym to learn from a coach, but do I need to...

Toronto Powerlifting-friendly Gyms?

Anyone know of any gyms in Toronto that are "powerlifting friendly" as in they allow the use of chalk, have strong bars, room, more than one squat rack, etc? Sick of these places filled with machines. Thanks.

Big Belly Strongmen Question

So I have been a fan of World's Strongest Man for years, but I don't do much lifting myself so I don't fully know the mechanics behind the sport. A lot of the Strongmen have very large bellies, and I was just wondering what, if any, benefits would they get from having such large guts? Does it...

Knee sleeves-best bang for the buck

Hey all, what kind of knee sleeves are you all using? I know that SlingShot's are probably the best, but they also cost a pretty penny. Is there a pair you have found that deliver what you're looking for, but at a fraction of the cost?

Do People only compete Raw these days?

So I've been out of the game for 17 years. Back then, everyone competed in bench shirts and squat suits. Now it seems from looking at results that pretty much eveyrone competes raw. Is this the case?

First off, here are my numbers: Age:17 Weight: 168lbs Bench: 269 Squat: 470 Deadlift: 447 To clear up previous forums created by people: •I 100% squat at depth and I low bar squat, so I’m mechanically able to squat more. •I don’t have short arms, so that can’t be the reason I’ve had a...
