THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO START YOUR OWN WORKOUT LOG. This will eliminate the need for people starting new threads to post their prs. ...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Your first meet.

This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Please add things that I have forgotten, and when everyone is done, I will compile it into a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide if...

Number one: YES YOUR LIFTS ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO COMPETE. IF YOU CAN LIFT THE BAR AND COLLARS (25KG/55LBS), WRITE YOUR NAME ON AN ENTRY FORM, AND PAY THE ENTRY FEE YOU CAN COMPETE. NO ONE IS GOING TO LAUGH AT YOU, YOU WON'T BE EMBARASSED, YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE "COMPETITIVE" DEPENDING ON WHO SHOWS UP....

squat form check 250lbs 10x3 (10th set shown)

So I know my butt wink looks TERRIBLE! Any of you know what I could do to combat this? Also sorry for bad angle. My gym is currently moving things around and there was not many angles to pick from that weren't being occupied by equipment. Also any tips on spinal hyperextension...I think that's what...

Jennifer Thompson (132 lbs female) - Benching 320 lbs RAW - Drug Free WOW

It's hard to believe for a 132 pound woman to bench press 320 lbs raw and that too drug free. How is it possible? Genetics? Experience?

Overhead Press Carryover To Bench

In the past I have only benched, not really overhead pressed at all. My chest and triceps tend to dominate a lot more in my bench than my shoulders, and my shoulders get tired first if I'm doing reps. Also, my shoulders are known to be weak since my bench is 215lbs, but my overhead press is only...

Narrow sumo stance, hip or knee hinge

Hello, I’ve never felt comfortable with conventional dead’s and moved to sumo last year, I found a narrow stance sumo to be the best for me but also played around with sumo. I’m confused about the narrow stance in the sense that some people say it’s still a sumo, some say it’s a wide stance...

Any of you ever try a daily max deadlift? I am currently adapting to this kind of routine. About 3 weeks in. How soon till I reach 315 Bench press

I just started lifting seriously about 4 months ago, and just 2 months ago my 1 rep max was 225. I've been increasing by 5lbs every other week sometimes 10 lbs if I feel like I can get it. Last week I hit 260, and today I felt pretty strong so I tried 275 and I was able to hit it for two reps...

Re-run cycle or apply linear progression

Hey guys, so I lost quite a bit of strength after getting sick, 10kg off my bench and 12kg off my squat. So the question is, is it better to try doing linear progression to go back to my old strength (say 3x5 and add 2,5kgs every week) or just run the program I was running and see how I progress?...

Working loads for a natural lifter

Hello All, I have been running a block periodization program for about two years and have just started my 10 block again. This time around, I have been straight up gased after my lower main lift 65%x5x10 to the point where I have puked and/or felt to fatigued to do anything else but machines. I...

How to benefit from a switch to low-bar squat?

I have been squatting high-bar since I started exercising but I have gotten more into powerlifting and would like to put up a 4-plate squat. I've read low-bar can add 10% more to an athletes squat, is this true? How would you get this benefit and how can you benefit from low-bar more than high-bar.

Gym Recommendations in Houston, TX

I'll be in Houston in October 2018 and was wondering what the best PL gym is to train a few days. So far I have circled Texas Barbell Syndicate and Texas Strength Weightlifting Center but I am open to suggestions. Would be good to have a gym where I can get some training points too.

Should I deload again?

Ok guys so after running candito 6 week program (intermediate) it says to repeat week 1 as a deload week, I basically did that but took off a lil bit of volume cause it always feels very heavy and really unnecessary for a deload to do 4 sets of squats and 2 sets of deads. The thing is yesterday I...

Smile 1st powerlifting meeting @17 (BW 95kg)

Hey guys! I've been wanting to do a PL meet for a long time now and I’ve finally decided to do it. The meet is 12.-14. of May. My question is: the meet allows knee wraps of length 2,5 meters (and I’m not sure but I think they allowed 3m wraps) and I have never trained in knee wraps. My max squat is...
