Sticky Thread Sticky: Your first meet.

This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Please add things that I have forgotten, and when everyone is done, I will compile it into a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide if...

Question People say I’m big, but I’m not.

Several people have told me I’m big, but I can’t see it. I’m about the same size as world champ Canelo Alvarez was against GGG. Just look him up on Google and you’ll get a picture of what I look like (with some extra body fat ofc. I’m not a professional boxer). I’m 18 years old, 5’11 and 180lbs. I...

Is Fasted Muay Thai Draining My Strength?

Hi All, I could use some advice please. I am a novice power lifter. I have been training hard for around 3 years after over a decade off. The last year has been focused on building strength/power and bulking. I currently weight 105kg (231lbs) at 6ft. My lifts are Bench:

Which bench grip involves the shoulders the least?

Most people generally answer that a wide grip involved pecs and shoulders more and a close grip is more tricep dominant. On the other hand I've seen the case made (by hamburgertime IIRC) that a close grip actually involves your shoulders more because of the degrees of rotation involved with the...

Raw 500lb benchers

I'd ask this on the big misc but everyone there benches 500 for reps like it was 135 for mere mortals. Starting to think this might be possible before I hit 40 (38 now). How many of you do it? Best advice you'd have for someone around 400 to get that next hundred? Thanks

Which pull-up/chin-up variation is best for powerlifting?

My bodyweight chin-ups are weak, but I want to get them stronger. I usually do chin-ups because they are easier than pull-ups so I am working up to doing pull-ups, but I am a long ways away from that. I just tried bodyweight neutral grip pull-ups and I did pretty much just as many as thoughs as I...
