Sticky Thread Sticky: Official PR Thread

I have decided to start a PR thread where everybody can simply post their PR's for any given exercise including things like strongman events and oly lifts of course. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO START YOUR OWN WORKOUT LOG. This will eliminate the need for people starting new threads to post their prs. ...

Question Rate my workout

Hey, I don't know if these kinds of posts are allowed around here, so I am sorry in advance if I broke some rule. Anyways, I just finished a 9 week fully periodized program I made myself, and I am curious to know what people think about it. (I am about to test my 1rm this week!) Of course, all...

Really complex issue that's compromised lifting

EDIT NOT 49! 30. Right.... brace yourselves folks. Ideally this question is best placed to a physio board or something, but often lifters often have a greater understanding in relation to body mechanics effecting compound movements so here goes. With the absolute upmost of respect... no bro...

PL/Oly lifts with herniated disc

Hi, guys. So a year ago I got a herniated disc in lower back. I have been back to lifting for a few months but upper body only. Really want to resume squatting, dling and even oly movements but even light weight bothers my back. Core strengthening haven't done anything tangible. I thought...

Help! Bad squat form and need advice from Powerlifters/weightlifters!

I have this weird tilt to the side on my lower back on the concentric portion of the squat. I squat high bar and basically ATG. I will try to post a video on the future. Could the lower back/glute tilt be due to a tight muscle, musclar/strength imbalance?

Someone told me recently that if anyone breakes eddies 500kg deadlift he will return to strongman I was told that he had made that statement himself, i know that eddie retired and all, and has talked about getting a 320 bench but, can anyone confirm this? As some of you probably have seen a guy...

Recently seen Stan on some Starting strength videos and in the audience at seminars. And there's some jujimufu video where he's showing him how to ripsquat I think (I didn't watch it). Like most top powerlifters, he didn't follow SS methods or programming when he set his records. He's coming...

Are my goals realistic?

I'm a 33/yo guy, 6'2'' 215. I've been doing strongman/powerlifting for about 3 years. I bulked from 200 to 270, cut back down to 240 and hit 535 on my DL. I cut down to 215 and lost 60-70 lbs off my deadlift. At 240 I hit 375 squat, 535 dl, and 265 bench. I have spinal stenosis in my spine in...

What are your favorite Oly lifting exercises?

Aside from snatch and C&J, of course. I've seen Oly lifters working out and they do powercleans, hang cleans, overhead squats, etc. I'd like to incorporate some of these into my routine.

Bench Block press to Bench press

Soo recently I used the 1 block (1.5 inch) and did 205x8.5 paused reps, which is a huuuge pr. I'm wondering if there is a way to estimate my 1 rm on normal bench press? Info that may help: ▪︎My 1 rm/5 rm at the end of September was 230/205 (touch and go) ▪︎current amrap for 185 is 11, amrap...

So ive only been training for a year, im 5'6 @145lbs bw. I'm still pretty new to powerlifting and I don't know if I'm making good progress in my lifts as everyone I see seems to be repping my maxes haha. I've been training for just about 8 months now and here's what my 1RMs have become; my deadlift has gone from 105KG to 150KG, my squat has gone from...

Sudden deadlift weakness ?

Hello everyone , I've been powerlifting for about 1.5 years. From the start , i've found conventional deadlift to be improving each training and i've progressed up to 240kg(530) for a single pull. Recently , i noticed my volume sets (usually 175-180kg 4x6 , 5x5) and heavy doubles, singles etc....

Rack pulls

Is more force provided to the body isometrically rather than full rom? If so, how effective for strength would a thigh high rack pull be opposed to squats and deadlifts?

bastard 531 (AMRAP first)

anyone ran 531 in this fashion ? you essentially work with a top set and back offs rather than a pyramid up to the top set whilst arguably accruing fatigue as the program goes on, you get stronger and your sets prior to the AMRAP inevitably end up going up so instead you work up to the...

One Handed Noob

So my only hand capable of lifting weights is my right. Won't get into details, but a gun went bomb and took most my left hand with it. So yea i'm pretty much limited to my right hand only. I've always admired strongmen, and their ability to do what they do. I've never took my health seriously...

Bench Advice (strengthening chest)

I'm 5'9, 180LB I can comfortably bench my weight at 10 reps. I do my fair share of incline workouts and weighted dips and flys, military presses, DL's, squats, all that and my numbers are solid. but when i get into the 2 plate bench range its always x1-2 reps and cant seem to improve that. i've...
