Sticky Thread Sticky: The DIY Thread: Anything and Everything You Can Make Yourself for PL and Strongman

Disclaimer: I found a TON of DIY’s, but have tried to select the most straightforward, safest, and overall best ones for each category. I have no doubt there are more/better ones out there, so please feel free to add! Also, be safe about this stuff and test it out along the way if you try these...

I have decided to start a PR thread where everybody can simply post their PR's for any given exercise including things like strongman events and oly lifts of course. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO START YOUR OWN WORKOUT LOG. This will eliminate the need for people starting new threads to post their prs. ...

This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Please add things that I have forgotten, and when everyone is done, I will compile it into a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide if...

First strongman

Hello, October 14th is a local strongman competition. I'm 186 now, lightweight is 181. Starting weights are the same for LW as they are for Novice. I'm most concerned about Axle clean and press as I'm really not proficient at cleans. I can definitely drop 5 pounds of water and roughage...

Post Upper back pain from squat

Hi, I'm new here (this is my first post). I have been doing the SL 5x5 some time (2-3 months?) and now when I started to increase the weight on the bar, my upper back started hurting me. As if the bar's sheer weight is pressing on my upper back. Especially the left side of my upper back. My legs...

770 squat, 425 bench, 805 deadlift for 2000 total @ 242 (VID)

Thought this might be worthy to post here. On Saturday I was lucky and I guess prepared enough to accomplish a lifetime goal of mine by totalling 2000 along with hitting an 800+ competition deadlift. Going into the meet the only goal was to hit a 2k total however possible, so every attempt was...

Question Running Smolov Base Cycle + Intense Phase. Upper body?

I've never done Smolov before. I'm going to skip the Phase In and jump right into the Base Cycle, deload for a week, and then go into the Intense Phase. Planning on starting this next week. What should I do for upper body to maintain? Or should I run Smolov Jr for bench? Right now I'm thinking...

For anyone that cares I was playing around with excel and put this together. I'm sure it's not perfect and is my first draft and will need some fleshing out. There's other goodies in the spreadsheet I find useful at times too. Coming out of rehab I'll be doing this for at least my...

Torn calusses

Every week it is the same thing. I tear calusses, start bleeding. Cant grab a bar for days. using rubber gloves didn't help, i used toilet paper, it only soaked up the blood. The problem is that the spot where i tear a callus feels really stingy. Anyone got any tips? Thanks.

All lifts getting weaker?

So I'm 16 150 lbs and I'm coming up on 7 months of powerlifting, and I made a lot of gains in that time but I'm also a baseball player so these past three months my lifts all have gone down drastically. Deadlift went 345-225 squat 265-195 and bench 165-155. My initial thought was CNS fatigue...

Bench Only Programs

He recommends low impact exercises to help lose weight so squats and deadlifts are out for now. I decided to switch to bench only until my ankle...

Arrow Anyone personally ran the Coan/Phillipi deadlift program? (reps)

Idk wtf has been up with my deadlift as of late, so im looking to switch things up in terms of programming. Thinking of trying out the coan/phillipi deadlift program because it's once a week which I tend to respond to the best for the deadlift. On paper it looks kinda strange compared to what i'm...

has anyone done candito 6 week program? question about program

Week 2 seems very brutal. The second squat day in particular seems to set an unrealistic target of 10 reps with 80% + 5lb. It gives instructions for achieving less than that, but I think this must be destined to fail if genuine 1rms are entered into the calculation. Because most people will...
