Sticky Thread Sticky: Official PR Thread

I have decided to start a PR thread where everybody can simply post their PR's for any given exercise including things like strongman events and oly lifts of course. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO START YOUR OWN WORKOUT LOG. This will eliminate the need for people starting new threads to post their prs. ...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Your first meet.

This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Please add things that I have forgotten, and when everyone is done, I will compile it into a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide if...

Big Strength Disparity???

I started lifting about four months ago and noticed that the differences between my three lifts were quite strange compared to most people. Currently, I can deadlift 385 lb, while my other lifts sag quite a bit... My bench RM is only 145 lb while my squat is 215 lb. Seems a bit strange for 1 lift...

Feedback on my squat PR

youtu.be/psBWmWoelUw This was 380lb for 2. Recent changes include - Setup with straight back, I was arching slightly and losing tightness at depth - overhand grip and widened grip. This was due to elbow pain, and helped for a time. - my hips are getting looser, so it is easier to hit depth ...

No Bench Press progression on Starting Strength

I did SS for roughly 4 month now. While my squat is going up fine, I am not making any progress on the bench press. My best was 140lbs x 5 x 3. When I increased to 143, I failed several times and did a deload. Now I don't even manage 5 x 3 with 140. I switched to benching twice per week (monday...

How many seconds between each deadlift rep are okay?

During a set I take quite long time between each rep, it's like 8-10s. Is that too much / does it make the set too easy? I simply get problems with the breathing otherwise. I hold my breath, but also need to take 1 breath at the top, otherwise the time before a next set would be even longer. ...

Any raw conjugate trainers here? DE question

Was hoping someone could throw some input in here, I've done a ton of reading, and am pretty familiar with running conjugate however one area that I've always questioned is the DE % for raw lifting. Most articles always point to the 50,55,60% 3 week wave + accommodating resistance. ( 25% of bar...

Ripped the arse out of my pants while squatting

Workout was going great today. Hit military press and deads and was on a roll. I moved on to squats, light day of 4x5, and got under the bar for my 1st set and it was smooth. 2nd set I thought I heard my shorts tear a little so I racked the weight but I didn't see any problems in the mirror. ...

Always been curious on this? There is no way guys like Brian Shaw, Eddie hall, haffthor....etc can be natural. Those guys are “supplementing”, right??

20 pound bench decrease

Within the last two weeks, my bench press has decreased 20 pounds which is a significant % for me because I went from hitting 185 for a double two weeks ago to failing what should have been an easy double on 175 last week to failing an attempted triple on 165 this week. Normally I would look to my...

Pinching shoulder blades on bench press

So I've been lifting for about 2.5 years now and am around 5'8.5 at 170-175 lbs fluctuating. I currently bench with...

What are the pros and cons to both powerlifting/strongman compared to bodybuilding

And I'm talking about in a functional sense. Would a bodybuilder have more endurance and be able to handle more time under tension compared to the rest/ faster recovery due to their type of training? Can a body builder make a switch?

Get a grip?

As I get higher into the plates on deadlifts I’m wondering what everyone’s favorite grip is? Overhand? Underhand? Mixed? Or One I’ve seen that some YouTube prodigy is using called a “hook” grip? I generally use a mixed grip for heavy work, but I tried the hook grip on some lighter fare just to...
