THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO START YOUR OWN WORKOUT LOG. This will eliminate the need for people starting new threads to post their prs. ...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Your first meet.

This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Please add things that I have forgotten, and when everyone is done, I will compile it into a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide if...

Number one: YES YOUR LIFTS ARE GOOD ENOUGH TO COMPETE. IF YOU CAN LIFT THE BAR AND COLLARS (25KG/55LBS), WRITE YOUR NAME ON AN ENTRY FORM, AND PAY THE ENTRY FEE YOU CAN COMPETE. NO ONE IS GOING TO LAUGH AT YOU, YOU WON'T BE EMBARASSED, YOU MAY OR MAY NOT BE "COMPETITIVE" DEPENDING ON WHO SHOWS UP....

Light Weights vs Heavy Weights

Most powerlifters lift heavy weights in low reps but don't look like they lift. Most bodybuilders lift light weights in high reps and look like they lift. So wouldn't that mean lifting light weights in high reps is optimal for looking jacked?

Powerdream's Training Journal

I want to be a powerlifter so bad, even though I am still dealing with a few nagging injuries. I am not at all confident that I will succeed. But I want this SO bad, that I have to keep trying. I can't turn back; I'm stuck on this path. The only way I can be successful is to believe that my...

Ditch incline bench?

My bench is struggling while squat and DL are progressing every week. I do flat bench one week and incline the following week so only flat benching once every two weeks. I do the incline to have some crossover into flat bench and military press, flat bench is stuck/progressing very slowly and...

Big 3 progress

A year ago today I maxed out on my big 3 lifts, bench 210, squat 275, and deadlift 365. I weighed 211 at age 17. I currently am the same bodyweight and benching 245, squatting 405, and deadlifting ~455. I don’t use a program (although I am currently making one) and believe my form has improved on...

Mag/Ort & Hatch squat

Why Do You Prefer Powerlifting Over Bodybuilding?

When most powerlifters don't even look like they lift. At least bodybuilders look like they lift. When are you ever going to lift a 500 lb object from the ground in the real world?

Texas Method: Bench Press

Hi, I'm doing the Texas Method for Powerlifting, meaning on mondays i do 5x5 and on friday 1x5. My question is about what style to use when benching. I know that the bench press form that Rippetoe is favouring is a more medium grip / slight arch style. I do wanna compete in powerlifting so i want...

Wearing belt high up

What is the purpose of wearing a belt high up on the torso like you see some lifters such as Stan Efferding and KK do? Cool Will I be an elite powerlifter?

Can I get some of you guys opinions. I’m 16, 164, and deadlift 465 for a single. Also squat 375, and bench 265. Will I be an elite powerlifter by my 20s? Also will I be able to achieve a 700lb deadlift in my lifetime?

Question Squat and Deadlift Form Check

Hi all, in another thread I posted some videos of my lifts, https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=176139141, regarding my squat I was told that I wasn't dropping my hips enough, and in the deadlift that I didn't knew how to properly activate my back, so yesterday I dropped the weight a...

Hi, I'm a rock climber with a PL background. I'm wondering if people can recommend me tools to strengthen my pinch grip, specifically a medium to fat pinch. In Rock climbing the only tools we really have for this are hanging from holds with pinch grips (so two holds, one for each hand) and...
