Sticky Thread Sticky: Official PR Thread

I have decided to start a PR thread where everybody can simply post their PR's for any given exercise including things like strongman events and oly lifts of course. THIS IS NOT A PLACE TO START YOUR OWN WORKOUT LOG. This will eliminate the need for people starting new threads to post their prs. ...

Sticky Thread Sticky: Your first meet.

This subject comes up often enough that we should simply accumulate a list of everything that should be done, and how everything should be handled, for the novice competitor. Please add things that I have forgotten, and when everyone is done, I will compile it into a comprehensive ‘how to’ guide if...

Disclaimer: I found a TON of DIY’s, but have tried to select the most straightforward, safest, and overall best ones for each category. I have no doubt there are more/better ones out there, so please feel free to add! Also, be safe about this stuff and test it out along the way if you try these...

diy stone mold

I am going to make my own mold using a rubber ball and wrapping fiberglass around it. I have seen videos where people set the mold in a bucket or on a tire and the mold collapsed a bit and deformed it. I have also seen videos where people partially bury the mold in the ground to support it, but...

Weak Conventional Deadlift

I’m 16 years old and weigh 69kg and I’ve been training for 2 years. Recently I switched from sumo deadlifts to conventional because I’ve been stuck on sumo particularly i struggle at the middle of the lift around knee to mid shin level. My max in sumo is 170kg and once I switched to...

Bench Press Stalling, In Need of Advice!

Been doing stronglifts I'm a noob..... Bench Press Stalling, In Need of Advice! Hi guys, my bench press is struggling. I'm stuck at 180 lb 3x3. I eat, rest and I am pretty confident in my form. I was wondering if anyone felt accessories helped them to break their plateau? If so what accessories...

Lightbulb 4x4 @85% 1RM or 6x4 @75% 1RM? [Which is better for strength?]

I was wondering for awhile now on which type of sets and reps I should go with for acquiring the most amount of strength? ...4x4 @85% 1RM or 6x4 @75% 1RM? I would be doing this ideally for my bench, squat, deadlift and shoulder press, and end with an AMRAP of @60% 1RM... I kinda liked the 6x4 more...

Julius Maddox Benches 705 for REPS.

Will we see someone with this much raw pressing power again in our lifetimes? It's absolutely unreal how quick this dude has progressed to this level in the couple years I've been following him. I would not bet against him hitting his 800# goal in a few weeks. 8eR4cBZqEtI

Cardio for recovery?

I just started stronglifts 5x5 and have a question about recovery. Could a small run, like 1-2 miles help my recovery from squats? My legs are super sore today so I thought maybe that could get the blood flowing some. I just want to make sure that it won't jeopardize the lifting mainly. It would...

Switching from distance running to powerlifting?

Hoping to possibly get some advice on switching from running to lifting. I’m a 20 year old guy who currently runs long distance, mainly focusing on marathons. I’m 5’7 and around 145 lbs. I love running but to be honest I’m getting sick of how skinny you have to be to be good at it. The calorie...

Using Elbow Sleeves For Triceps?

Hi everyone, I have a pair of Mark Bell STrong elbow sleeves coming. The main reason I bought them is to help with a mild elbow injury: one I received while going too heavy and explosive on skull crushers. My question is: am I kind of defeating the purpose of triceps training by using the...

Identifying type of barbell

What’s up guys! I just bought a barbell from my neighbor. It’s a bit rusty, but seems to be in ok condition. I’m trying to figure out what brand bar this is, because it does feel different from my other barbells. I’m thinking it’s a power bar barbells because of the knurling In the middle. Also it...

Log bar— wood vs powder coat

I’m hoping to purchase a competition log bar in preparation for my first strongman. I’m considering either the rogue lb-3 or the Slater log. Prices are pretty much the same, Slater will make a 12 inch bar as well. Anyone have experience with both logs, and the benefits or downsides of either?...

Wobbly bench press

When I bench press at home, I have 40 pounds on each side of my barbell hanging off of it in a bucket. I don't have enough plates to reach a relevant weight for bench pressing without using my bucket method. When I press the weight, the buckets move back and forth like crazy making it much...

Question Where to go after StrongLifts?

My SQ max is 1.7x BW, BP 1.1x BW (it sucks, I know), and DL 2x BW. I haven't been able to make additional progress in about a month, so I feel ready to move on. I've looked into a lot of different things like PPL, Upper/Lower, and 5 day split where I work each muscle group 2x a week. I'm interested...

Accessories for sumo deadlift

I'm in the process of switching to sumo but this potentially changes all my deadlift accessory work. I've been doing deficit RDL, hyper extension and hamstring curls. I programmed those in to help with conventional but maybe they aren't the best options now. Any thoughts ?
