Question Strongman training = big calves?

I know plenty of people who are doing calf raises all day long in the gym, but still can't get their calves to grow by more than 1 or 2 inches. So I'm just wondering whether the heavy squats and weight carrying could be the solution to this issue. Can someone share his/her experience regarding...

How can I get to a 405 deadlift very soon?

I really want to pull 405 lbs very soon. Back in May I did 325x5 with a deaddstop in between each rep. A few weeks ago, I did 315x9 but most of the reps were touch-no go. I did go to 2 summer camps for a few weeks in June, and that did also make it harder for me to progress. I've basically been...

Is it possible to be built for 1-2 rep maxes and 5 or more?

Its weird but I feel "better" going for a 1 or 2 rep max than 5 reps on stuff like squats and deads. I think for compounds my body responds better to heavier weight for very very low reps. For example I can squat 315 but with 275 I grind it out at the 3 or 4th rep before racking it in exhausting....

why can i deadlift 355 and squat only 225?!

always finishing point of the deadlift was way easier than than the starting point for me. is that a sign of relatively weak quads that lead to have this kinda gap between my squat and deadlift? thanks (squat parallel: 225 lbs, paused bench press: 225 lbs, deadlift: 355 lbs)

Training while very sore

So the last time I squat very heavy was 7/19. Today is 7/22 and I want to squat heavy. My mind feels good, but my quads, posterior chain etc is feeling so sore. If I push myself to the brink, is this beneficial or detrimental to my progression? My goal is to increase strength/power and...

I've never done Smolov before. I'm going to skip the Phase In and jump right into the Base Cycle, deload for a week, and then go into the Intense Phase. Planning on starting this next week. What should I do for upper body to maintain? Or should I run Smolov Jr for bench? Right now I'm thinking...

Yes I'm going full potato. Just ordered a multiply bench shirt to start learning the gear. I got a pair of briefs and now I'm looking into the squat and deadlift. I pull with a narrow sumo stance. (shins inside the power rings). That's really the only way I can get power off the floor....
