Hip Flexor pain/tightness from squatting SS 5x5

I'm doing SS 5x5, on week 5 now. I have been getting some tension and tightness in my hip flexors, and am afraid that I will eventually develop tendonitis there if I don't correct any bad form right now. I'm trying not to aggravate it, so I'm spreading my stance a little further than shoulder...

In search for a powerlifting program

I have worked out quite a bit wanting size, but now I'm moving on to focus on power. Looking for a program, preferably a 3 days a week program. Want to improve at squats, deadlift, military press and bench. I don't have too much experience with powerlifting, any tip is appreciated!

Squat form check please! (high bar)

Figured you guys should know your stuff. So let me start off by saying going into this workout was pure hell! Had no sleep the night before. Had to do 10 triples @85% today. Weight is just 260 but felt way heavier. This is the 9th set so fatigue was a definite factor. I feel like I was falling...

Will switching to Barbell bench to dumbbell help me increase my barbell bench?

I’ve been struggling to increase my flat bench for a few weeks now after hitting a plateau at 225x6 and the weight just feels so heavy once I get to 225. One of my friends told me that he experienced a 30 lbs increase on his bench in only one month of switching to dumbbells and coming back to test...

conditioning for powerlifters. Why no improvement?

I've been training for years and whenever I make a serious effort to improve my conditioning, I never seem to notice any improvement. I can see the progress of my lifts, or my body size/shape, but when it comes to cardiovascular conditioning, there's been no noticeable improvement ever. I...

Arrow Anyone personally ran the Coan/Phillipi deadlift program? (reps)

Idk wtf has been up with my deadlift as of late, so im looking to switch things up in terms of programming. Thinking of trying out the coan/phillipi deadlift program because it's once a week which I tend to respond to the best for the deadlift. On paper it looks kinda strange compared to what i'm...

Does power lifting result in more injuries? What are the benefits of power lifting over bodybuilding? Bodybuilders bodies look good... I met a heavy duty powerlifter last night, and his muscle composition looked strange, by all means he looked buff and powerful looking, but he was out of...

Returning to 5/3/1 after extended break

So it's been about 6 months since I've last step foot inside a gym. I had a steady 5-3-1 routine and was making significant progress until I injured my shoulder doing OHP. The doctor said I strained a muscle and needed rest until I felt fully healed. I did a few months of Chiropractic sessions and...

Question Knee wraps vs Knee sleeves

Having just come from a discussion with a friend of mine, I thought I would post here. We both agreed that wearing a knee sleeve is basically the effect of wearing a loose knee wrap. Would you guys agree with this? Reason I am asking is I am debating whether to buy the inzer knee sleeves or knee...

(Sorry if this isn’t the right place to post this) Hi guys, I’m currently stuck as to how I can add weight to my bench press, deadlift and squat. I’m not the most knowledgeable lifter as you can probably tell but I’d say I pretty much always aim for the hypertrophy rep ranges on pretty much...

Calgary Barbell

First time back in a long time. I've been lifting with a bum shoulder and it hasn't got much better using the Dave Draper SSB attachment for squats. I've been doing a lot of work on it, and have come to the conclusion that it's as good as it's gonna get. So, back to bar on the back and loving it...

How to avoid overworking lower back?

Hi. How can I avoid overworking lower back? Almost everything I do hits lower back in some way... squats, DLs, cleans, even in bench I cant help but arch some and use my lower back. My lower back is always sore and it gets overworked. It wouldn't be much of a problem if I did not stay sore, but...

Trying to get stronger.

All my lifting career i have been lifting with this style that: weights that i can do 10-14 reps and consertrate on squeeze the muscle. Focus on that i use correct muscles. Trying to keep tension on the muscles. By doing that i have managed to build some muscle and get to point where lot of my...
