Powerlifting Unknown injury

Male 76kg 16 5ft 11 So I go to the gym and i lift weights in order to compete in powerlifting. So I was deadlifting and as i pushed off the floor I twisted my head to look to the left which I assume left a lot of pressure on the right side of my body. I felt a minor pain in my upper middle...

Can you recommend a starting strongman program for a newbie.

I'm reposting this because I felt my first post was too vague. Stats 275lbs, 6'8", current lifts Squat 315 1rm, deadlift 265 1 rm, bench 155 1rm, oh press 125 1rm. I'm in month 3 of Starting Strength. I'm stalling out on squat and deadlift. I've probably asked this question a whole bunch of times,...

Interview Questions for Champion Powerlifter

Hey all, I have an interview lined up this Saturday with a champion powerlifter. Please let me know if you have any questions you'd like me to ask her. After the interview we plan on hitting the gym for some tutorial videos. She has a lot of experience and can deadlift more than most men!

Arrow Anyone personally ran the Coan/Phillipi deadlift program? (reps)

Idk wtf has been up with my deadlift as of late, so im looking to switch things up in terms of programming. Thinking of trying out the coan/phillipi deadlift program because it's once a week which I tend to respond to the best for the deadlift. On paper it looks kinda strange compared to what i'm...

Gym Recommendations in Houston, TX

I'll be in Houston in October 2018 and was wondering what the best PL gym is to train a few days. So far I have circled Texas Barbell Syndicate and Texas Strength Weightlifting Center but I am open to suggestions. Would be good to have a gym where I can get some training points too.

Intimidating new years resolutioners

... through heavy lifting of course. Probably 2nd January I'll be in the gym and I'll get some heavy rack pulls in with plenty of grunting and banging of weights. Not trying to sound like an arse hole but these fart monkeys aren't serious anyway and they just clog the place up. Why not turn...

14 year old powerlifter, two years into the game, questions for my older gym mates

I was 11-12 when i had about 82kg (180lbs), and just getting around was a bit difficult, so, i decided to start going to the gym (my parents own the only...

What to do when you fail deadlifts in stronglifts 5x5?

It says to switch to 3x5 after deloading and failing a couple of times for the other lifts but what about the deadlift since it's just 1x5? Recently failed at 140kg deadlift ☹️

Question Volume question

If i was squatting 225 for 5x5 and I switched to 3 sets of 5, will I not grow until my volume reaches the amount I was squatting at 225? ( 225x25=5,625) Does that mean I won't grow until I'm squatting 3 sets of 5 at 375? (375x15=5,625) I'm currently squatting 275 for 3 sets of 5. Does "...

Any powerlifters eat smaller portions of food like BBers do?

Some people debate the whole eating smaller meals throughout the day speeds your metabolism but in terms of convenience of health and performance can eating smaller portions throughout the day keep you at optimal performance and also keep a more pleasant physique?

Spread the floor (toes) deadlift cue?

What's the deal with this cue? Is it one anyone here uses to great success? I was playing around last night with hook grip. I realised spreading the floor with toes might be a good idea with this grip. I was more screwing/planting the feet into the ground with mixed grip. I feel like the spread...

Banded vs. Reverse banded? Which helps build strength and speed with bench press?

I feel like hanging bands from the top of the power rack and putting them on a bar can help me grind out better than putting them on the bottom. Any opinions from bench brahs in here? Trying to break out of a plateau

Deadlift to atlas stone carry over

Hi, I'm planning on doing my first strongman competition late Jan. One of the events is a 100kg (220lbs) stone for max reps in 75 seconds over a 1.2m (3.9ft) bar. My deadlift is only 195-200kg (~440lbs), and I can also do pendlays with 105kg and front squat 125kg. I have never done stones before...

Quad/knee pain while doing sumo deads

I've started doing sumo deads after my regular conventional deads just for fun and to get more lifting in. I'm pretty new to sumos and been working on form and I think my set up is pretty good. I'm not going too heavy just repping 315 for practice. But my quads right in the tear drop gets...

Grade 3 Quad tear.

How long does it take to return to previous strength levels? I have been working like a mad man and I am about 90ish percent to where I was after 6 mths. I did 10 weeks physical therapy and been full go training wise for the last 3 mths. It feels like the recovery road is taking forever.

BUFFALO style squat bar

What are your thoughts BUFFALO style squat bar? I've never used one. Looks like it would take stress off shoulders and elbows , whilst letting you squat in same style. I'm wary though of the fact this bar seems to be overweight. I like to know exactly what a bar weighs if possible. Thanks
