Poll Poll: Cardio to Cut for Strongman Meet?

So I have a strongman meet in 6 weeks. I've already dropped 10lbs from 195 to 185 and I'm looking to make weight for the 175lb division. I've dropped my 1st 10lbs by doing long bouts of LISS cardio almost every day. I don't know if I should continue to use LISS or use HIIT more (considering I lift...

Cleans and rear delts

I'm wondering if this is due to the break in form when dropping the weight from shoulder height. I have zero pain or issues with the rear delts when doing cleans. The only issue is when I basically dismount the lift by dropping weight. Lift goes smooth. No trouble racking or holding the weight...

Question What if a Smith machine is the only option?

I'm a former powerlifter, getting back into the gym, not to compete, just for fitness & strength purposes. Currently I can only afford to go to a certain gym that some have called the worst on the planet...lol. This specific gym has no Olympic Benches, no Squat Racks, no Olympic Barbells at...

Furniture Removal?

I've noticed that strongmen lift a lot of awkward shaped objects, so wouldn't it be a good idea to to put all of that functional strength to use by being furniture removalists? Since they get to lift heavy sh*t and get paid for it?

Recommend gym in Tel-Aviv (Israel)

Heading to Tel-Aviv for business and want some recommendations for gyms that will allow me to workout as a guest. I'll be doing normal barbell movements (squat, bench, deadlift, press, cleans) so need racks and platforms. I've found a couple crossfit places, but looking for more options because in...

Exclamation Serious help required (back injured)

So I debated putting this in the misc for more opinions but couldn't be bothered with the high % of trolls, and also in the sports training section as I am/was a rugby player/verynamateur boxer alongside my primary sport or powerlifting. 2 years ago I had reasonable lifts for a natty 80kg...

Natty or not?

My old classmate has been training for 3 to 4 years now and deadlifts 455 at 140 lbs. Im still working on 405 lbs. Im wondering if this type of weight is rare for his bodyweight for a natural lifter? Or is this common?

Upper body only program (injured lower body)

Hey guys, I fractured my pelvis during a deadlift only competition a few weeks ago and am looking for some ideas on an upper body only program. Recovery is 6-8 weeks, then will likely have to do some PT. I'm not supposed to put any weight on my left side and I use crutches. Right now I've...

Shoulder problem

Hi everyone. I'm a 26 yr old guy trying to grow traps. That's bout it. I learned that rack pulls, deadlifts and farmer's carries is the way to go. My problem? Two weeks ago I did my back routine of the above and ever since then I have this weird deep ache just below my right trap whenever I try...

Exclamation What lifting routines do y'all run while cutting?

Just curious to see what y'all used and if you enjoyed one more than the other. And if you noticed better strength & or muscle / energy retention on certain programs. Ive been training for strength for awhile with some hypertrophy but after being treated for some thyroid issues and going through...

How Am I Doing? Squat Focus

Hello Everyone, I've been in the gym close to about a year. I definitely know my way around the weights and the routines I need to do to reach my goals of decreasing my body fat % to around 13%(currently at 24%). While on this journey I've come to realize that my lower body is much stronger...

Gym Recommendations in Houston, TX

I'll be in Houston in October 2018 and was wondering what the best PL gym is to train a few days. So far I have circled Texas Barbell Syndicate and Texas Strength Weightlifting Center but I am open to suggestions. Would be good to have a gym where I can get some training points too.

Spud Inc vs Inzer Elbow Sleeves??

My inzers are wearing out. Curious if anyone has used both and can tell me if the Spuds are better. Just using these for training. I know the inzers are more expensive but it doesn't matter a ton to me. I'd just rather have the better sleeve. . Ty!

Why can't I stop injuring myself?

So for a little background, I'm 19 and have lifted somewhat consistently for about 4 years and played football without many problems. For the past 3 months, I've been having setback after setback. I'm 5'8 180 pounds. - It started when I had osgood schlatter disease flare up in one knee, so I...

16 year old bench, squat, deadlift.

Hey, I’m 16 and I weight 180lb with 13% body fat and I bench 225lbx8, squat 225lbx4 and deadlift 315lbx8. And wanted to know how can I get my squats and deadlifts up because I feel like my bench is good but my deadlift and squat sucks so any help with that would help.

Question Torn tendon/ligament in lower back recovery

Hi everyone, I want to know what ways you guys have healed from a torn ligament/tendon in your lower back from doing deadlifts. I first injured myself in 2015 and at the time I was deadlifting 325 x5. I was warming up at 225 when I pulled up and instantly had sharp pain in my lower back and...
