Unhappy Sharp pain at deadlift lockout?

Hey all, For the past year now I've been experiencing a weird pain at about 75-100% lockout on conventional deadlifts. I've tried percussion massagers, stretching, foam rolling, high volume warmups and nothing seems to help the problem. Basically what happens is when the bar passes my...

reverse leg press question

I recently switched gyms and have been doing reverse leg press to target hamstrings on a 45 degree angle machine. I've noticed my ankles are getting weak - could the angle of this machine be the cause?

Including trap bar DLs

My gym just had a refurb and now they have a trap bar, never used one before. Any reason to add this to my deadlift training? I'm 6'4 with long arms and legs, I hear that a trap bar might feel more natural, my straight bar DL is progressing but it's never felt natural.

Just a question about reps

Does 20 reps still build strength as doing 4-6 reps ? (I know it builds muscle endurance)because when I do 6 reps for strength I don’t really feel my muscles, I slow down during eccentric motion. And I’m using a resistance band (I don’t have access to the gym)

Anyone run westside/conjugate?

It’s my second week running my own template, but was hoping someone can give me some advice on how much assistance work I should be doing as I think I might be doing too much. I should note that I’m gonna be cutting soon so I need to make adjustments regarding the volume so I can recover. Here are...

question regarding Encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding

Hello all! I was wondering how many of people of the powerlifting/strongman community read or have read the Encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding? What are your favorite chapters if you do partake? What should an aspiring power/strong trainer focus most on?

Is there a term for someone that works out for strength and doesn't follow rules?

What I mean is there a term for a person that doesn't follow the Powerlifting rule of Bench/Squat/Deads but trains for strength?

Popular training/peaking programs

Been out of the game for a couple years, just got settled in a new house and finally bit the bullet and ordered a full rack, benches, and other goodies so I can train more from home. What’s everybody doing nowadays for training programs? Some of the crew I used to train with still mainly follows...

Question Novice to intermediate program

Hi all, I'm looking for recommendations for intermediate programs, I don't know which would be more beneficial for my strength/mass goals, I know programs like The Bridge, TM, Madcow, Westside, Candito LP/6 week, however I don't know which would be the best after the SSLP (starting strength) has...

Can cracking joints weaken your strength?

From studies cracking knuckles can weaken your strength. But does the same goes for cracking the shoulders, neck and back? I accidentally cracked one shoulder. The shoulder feels more mobile but fear I might not get the strength though that is kind of dumb to think that since that would be a...

Weightlifting induced brain fog

hello everyone. I know there are similar threads all over the forum, but still I want to post a new thread on this. Every time I do excises like squats or bar pushing, I will experience this brain fog like 3 or 4 hours later. This will last for 3-4 days. My first two years in gym works fine....

Angry Is my form perfectionist powerlifting coach right?

Ok so I am in a powerlifting class and we were doing deadlifts. Each set the weight went up and if your form was not close to perfect he would get PISSED!!!!. So my PR or one rep max is 325lbs with the belt (I did this in my local gym and felt fine after I one rep max once or twice a week and never...

Light Weights vs Heavy Weights

Most powerlifters lift heavy weights in low reps but don't look like they lift. Most bodybuilders lift light weights in high reps and look like they lift. So wouldn't that mean lifting light weights in high reps is optimal for looking jacked?

Big 3 progress

A year ago today I maxed out on my big 3 lifts, bench 210, squat 275, and deadlift 365. I weighed 211 at age 17. I currently am the same bodyweight and benching 245, squatting 405, and deadlifting ~455. I don’t use a program (although I am currently making one) and believe my form has improved on...

Texas Method: Bench Press

Hi, I'm doing the Texas Method for Powerlifting, meaning on mondays i do 5x5 and on friday 1x5. My question is about what style to use when benching. I know that the bench press form that Rippetoe is favouring is a more medium grip / slight arch style. I do wanna compete in powerlifting so i want...
