Married guys & guys in long-term relationships: where do you find motivation to lift?

Seriously, it's something I really struggle with. I'm in a long-term relationship with an awesome woman with whom I intend to spend the rest of my life. That said, I have become somewhat avoidant of the gym in part because there are so many ridiculously attractive women there. Also, part of why...

I need serious help

Hi everyone. I've come here out of nowhere because I need help. I've officially let myself go. I've gone on and off staying healthy over the course of 8 years and I have now just lost the urge to do anything. Here's my situation. I lost a bunch of weight in high school and was at a respectable...

How do you fit in the time to work out?

Hi guys, I really want to work out and get back in shape but I can't seem to find the time because of work commitments. I'm usually out of the house for 12 hours plus - I leave at 7ish and don't get back until 7:15 at the earliest. When I get back I take my dog out and then eat, by which time...

Unhappy Just don't seem to care

I've been going to the gym since August last year. I started going because a couple of my close friends go almost daily. Honestly, I was hoping I could look like them eventually. I spent most of last year learning how The different exercises work. Then this year I had a case of the flu...

I WANT to lose fat, but my motivation is hurting...

So I have been going to the GYM with a partner 3 days a week/ish, it is more like 2 days a week and I do not think that is enough. When we go to the gym I am a bit more advanced then he is with technique and knowing how to perform certain exercises, and there is nothing wrong with that because I...

How to get motivated for cardio?

I don't have any motivation issues when it comes to going to the gym and doing my workout. Eating healthy too is something I am getting good at, keeping a tight diet. I have issues with getting motivated to do cardio. I can do maybe 10 minutes max twice a week and even that is hard. Lifting is...

Do you really lose muscle if you work out too long?

From my experience, I believe you can lose muscle but I gain it back from resting and eating. I tend to work out 4-8 hours. I think my highest record was 10 hours. My body size looks like it's shrinking but that could be the body fat because my weight has only increased and I can see how stronger...

How do you deal with multiple conflicting goals?

Basically, one thing at a time, right? Basically, here's what I want to do... My first point of relative satisfaction would be to be right around 10% body fat with a big three right around 800. I'm currently... Oh, I don't know... 15% and still cutting, with a big three of less than 600...

Can being muscular help with your future career?

I just thought of something and it may sound stupid, but I don't know. Yes, I know connections, college, and experience are most important for a job, but I was wondering about something. Getting noticeably muscular. Lets say you have this big, muscular guy. He is about 22-24 years old, just...

Ex girlfriend as lifting motivation

I dated a girl for a long time, and have been broken up for several years. Since we've broken up, I've put on about 20 pounds of lean muscle (I have a naturally skinny frame, so it really shows). Out of the blue, I ran into her at a bar, and she's with her new (skinny, lanky) boyfriend. Whenever I...

Depression and rest days?

I'm wondering if anyone else here experiences this. I have clinical depression. I find that on days I work out (and it has to include some cardio--which is easy since running is my sport) I'm reasonably OK. I feel mellow afterwards, not anxious or sad or self-hating or lacking in energy. But...
