Sticky Thread Sticky: The Cheapo Setup

Ok so let's go through the cheapest options for new equipment that you'd be willing to use for training. While we all dream of buying that custom built rig, or finding a solid piece of used commercial or vintage equipment to outfit your gym, many times we just want to buy something that's usable...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Power Rack Thread - August 2010 version

This is a collaborative effort from the equipment forum members. The 2008 edition has a lot of broken links and rather than keep that one going we decided to start a new one. First let’s have a few definitions to clear up some confusion. Squat Stands: These are probably the most useless...

Post Sticky Thread Sticky: Barbells - Everything you ever wanted to know

I don't think a thread like this exists for the barbell, so I wanted to start one. The Olympic barbell is one of the most important purchases one can make for their home gym. A barbell is the interface to the weight and although they may all look similar to an untrained eye, there are actually a...

Haven't seen a proper Rep Fitness thread, so figured we could make one. I received the PowerSpeed bar in Manganese Phosphate earlier today as well as the 275lb set of equalizers. Impressed with both. The new power bar is DEFINITELY more aggressive than the first iteration. I really like the...

Vintage Iron Thread

Hi All, I read a post a few weeks ago in which SnowOne and DonForeman suggested a vintage iron thread to discuss/identify old plates. Help with Home Gym

Has any pro bb'r ever become pro with mainly free weights (no machines)?

I'm a longtime bodybuilder (15 years), and actually just my home gym setup right before COVID hit. It was a blessing, and I have no intention of ever going to a gym again. With that said, I'm becoming better trained with free weights (barbells, dumbbells, cables, squat rack, TRX, ect.) now than...

Powertec Levergym- Can't fit lock into the bottom slot

I wonder why I can't fit the lock into the very bottom slot? Is that normal? Any advice? Is it okay to lift with no lock? I do that if I want the lever bar to go as low as possible. The only thing I'm worried about though is that it could damage the weight rack? Let me know your thoughts. Also,...

Hey all, I see people mentioning getting belt squats a lot. I'm curious what are the general thoughts of pros/cons of the different types. Is there a list of various exercises that would be well suited for a cable-based system such as the Rogue Rhino that couldn't be done with a lever-based...

Light/lamp for rack area?

My rack area is pretty dark and it's annoying. Any ideas for a good lighting solution I could attach to the rack. Rack is 3x3 and top mounting would be best. I don't mind running an extension cord up the side. I'm not wiring another light in my ceiling, which is obviously the best solution....

It looks like they are trying to compete with Rogue's new plates and they look deep(ish) dish. In the photos it's hard to tell. They caught my eye because Kabuki is about 3 hours away in Portland, Oregon and I could potentially pick them up. No sales tax in OR either, so that's a win. Going to...
