All about equipment and iron!

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Power Rack Thread - August 2010 version

This is a collaborative effort from the equipment forum members. The 2008 edition has a lot of broken links and rather than keep that one going we decided to start a new one. First let’s have a few definitions to clear up some confusion. Squat Stands: These are probably the most useless...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Cheapo Setup

Ok so let's go through the cheapest options for new equipment that you'd be willing to use for training. While we all dream of buying that custom built rig, or finding a solid piece of used commercial or vintage equipment to outfit your gym, many times we just want to buy something that's usable...

Post Sticky Thread Sticky: Barbells - Everything you ever wanted to know

I don't think a thread like this exists for the barbell, so I wanted to start one. The Olympic barbell is one of the most important purchases one can make for their home gym. A barbell is the interface to the weight and although they may all look similar to an untrained eye, there are actually a...

Just as in every year past, this time of year sees an uptick of spammers, scammers, crooks, charlatans, ganefs, and knuckleheads bent on using this forum to shill their junk. One more time; don't quote or reply to such threads/posts; doing so only creates more work to clear them out. Simply...

Cheap squat stand -is it worth it?

As someone who workouts at home, and doesn't have an ambition to squat more than 100-120kg anytime soon, I consider buying some cheap squat stand. I found only separate towers on a market, no linked ones. Can't post links and pictures because of forum rules. I also need it for the bench press,...

Training camp ultra bench same as ironmaster super bench?

w** What do you think? I might pull the trigger. I don’t exactly like the bench (old style FID from northern lights) I have. This looks like a good upgrade for a decent price. Nothing good used on kijiji here for the last two months.

XTC fitness bench

Hey everyone, I’m hunting for an adjustable bench for my home gym and have my eye on the x series adjustable bench 2.0 from XTC fitness in Canada. 17.5” height, and good price. Rogue sandwich j cups vs regular j cups?

I am waiting to get a second set of j cups for my rack. Are the sandwich j cups worth the extra money? I am going to keep one set at bench press height and the other set, on opposite side, at squat height.

Hi all, after lots of looking and deliberating I placed an order for a set of ironmasters. Currently on backorder to come in a couple weeks. Help choose between two racks - Elitefts v Rep Fitness

I've been looking at power racks over the last couple weeks and I'm pretty set on getting one with plate storage. Down to the two below from Elitefts and Rep Fitness. [Home Gym] Light up your Dungeon!

If your home gym is in your garage or basement like mine, chances are you have those single bulb sockets spaced pretty far apart. When I remodeled my gym, I painted the walls yellow and red, and that lightened the room up, but I still only had two 100 watt bulbs lighting the thing up. Ever...

sm1ke's garage/home gym thread

I started putting this garage/home gym together after about six months of lifting at my previous office's "fitness centre". All they had were DBs, a few benches, and a functional trainer. I needed a place to do the main lifts, so back in March 2017, I decided to get serious on my home setup. The...

Wrist Wraps: Scapholunate Ligament Problem

I have a wrist condition that makes it too painful to do pushing exercises. I was told that I had a scapholunate ligament tear in my left wrist.(I assumed it resulted when I threw a punch at a heavy bag about 25 years ago and my wrist bent inward. That was unbelievably painful). But when I...

Standing bench anyone

I have seen a couple of benches like this one in the last 2 years. One was pretty cheep and I regretted not buying it. Seems like it would be cool to have, functional, and totally unnecessary. This one appears to be adjustable, being sold by a local reseller with high prices. Anyone use one before?

I have a rouge opb but the 29mm is a little bit little for me. I want a 32mm power bar but the only bars I see online at 32mm have like 160 or so tensile strength. Can anyone point in the direction of a 32mm pb that has anywhere from 190 to 200+ tensile strength?
