Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Power Rack Thread - August 2010 version

This is a collaborative effort from the equipment forum members. The 2008 edition has a lot of broken links and rather than keep that one going we decided to start a new one. First let’s have a few definitions to clear up some confusion. Squat Stands: These are probably the most useless...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Cheapo Setup

Ok so let's go through the cheapest options for new equipment that you'd be willing to use for training. While we all dream of buying that custom built rig, or finding a solid piece of used commercial or vintage equipment to outfit your gym, many times we just want to buy something that's usable...

Post Sticky Thread Sticky: Barbells - Everything you ever wanted to know

I don't think a thread like this exists for the barbell, so I wanted to start one. The Olympic barbell is one of the most important purchases one can make for their home gym. A barbell is the interface to the weight and although they may all look similar to an untrained eye, there are actually a...

What do you all do with your extra small plates?

Caught a few deals on the local Craigslist and have been building up my stash of 45 plates. Problem is I've got a boatload of 5s and 2.5s that I don't know what to do with. I can make use of the extra 35,25 and 10s but I'm at a loss as to what to do with the extra little guys. Any ideas?

Vintage Iron Thread

Hi All, I read a post a few weeks ago in which SnowOne and DonForeman suggested a vintage iron thread to discuss/identify old plates. I wasn't part of that discussion, but I see that no one has created the thread, and I have a couple of plates that I could use some help identifying, so I figured...

Going from 4 to 6 post power rack. 24" or 36"?

I currently have a Titan T-3 36" Deep power rack. It is a PITA having the plate storage on the back posts as they get in the way sometimes when I have the side safeties up. I was looking to get the extension for my rack, but should I get the 24" or the 36"? I was thinking 24" just to have extra...

Anyone willing to build a bench?

I have a specific design in mind and it just so happens that Beast Metals seems to manufacture that design, but their sales team is the absolute WORST. I've tried to get in touch with them via their website and haven't heard anything back via email. I messaged them on Facebook on September 20th...

Hi everyone, I've been lurking the forums for awhile now looking for a solid budget FI bench and have narrowed it down to these two. I've read plenty of praise for both benches, but never a comparison of the two. They both are currently sub ~$200 USD and I think are direct competitors to...

I'm looking for a loadable straight bar (around) 5' mainly to curl with. I really prefer to use a straight bar for curling and I'm tired of using my 7' olympic bar when not using DB's. Hammer Curl bar

Is it a good investment? Will it be just as effective as using dumbells while giving me the option to do tricep extensions with it and other things? My heaviest dumbells are 40lbs and they are way too light for hammers or even DB curls now and I can't afford to buy 2 55lb or 60lb dumbells....
