Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Power Rack Thread - August 2010 version

This is a collaborative effort from the equipment forum members. The 2008 edition has a lot of broken links and rather than keep that one going we decided to start a new one. First let’s have a few definitions to clear up some confusion. Squat Stands: These are probably the most useless...

Ok so let's go through the cheapest options for new equipment that you'd be willing to use for training. While we all dream of buying that custom built rig, or finding a solid piece of used commercial or vintage equipment to outfit your gym, many times we just want to buy something that's usable...

Post Sticky Thread Sticky: Barbells - Everything you ever wanted to know

I don't think a thread like this exists for the barbell, so I wanted to start one. The Olympic barbell is one of the most important purchases one can make for their home gym. A barbell is the interface to the weight and although they may all look similar to an untrained eye, there are actually a...

Impact driver recommendations?

This is probably a stupid question but going to be putting together an increasing amount of gear. Any recommended impact drivers? Looking for something that can handle 1” hardware if that makes a difference (Rogue monster etc). Thanks!

Not gym equipment related, but I workout in my garage, no heat in the winter. I actuality like it but when it gets in the 20's it can take me a long time to warm up. For the garage home gym crew who do use heaters, any suggestions?

Best floor protection for small space (~5'x7')

Looking to set up a small workout area at home for days I want to get a quick workout in without having to go to the commercial gym. Area is small - roughly 5'x7' - can be as small as 4'x6' or as large a 6'x8'. On that area I'm planning on having the Rep AB-3100 Adjustable Bench and Rep...

Hack Squats - EliteFTS vs. Watson vs. Atlantis

I'm in the market for a hack squat and I think I've narrowed it down to these three brands. I really like the adjustable angle (30-70 degrees) and adjustable foot plate on the Watson one, however, the carriage is insanely heavy and the safety hooks are at an awkwardly high or low height for me...

Anyone have thoughts/experience with Ivanko SDH-U adjustable dumbbell?

I'm currently using some old 1" spinlock adjustable dumbbells. I wrapped some hockey tap around the grip to thicken it and eliminate the awful aggressive knurling. The DBs work fine and I like the security of the spinlock, but it is a bit time consuming to change weights/ I don't do rapid sets...
