Sticky Thread Sticky: The Cheapo Setup

Ok so let's go through the cheapest options for new equipment that you'd be willing to use for training. While we all dream of buying that custom built rig, or finding a solid piece of used commercial or vintage equipment to outfit your gym, many times we just want to buy something that's usable...

Post Sticky Thread Sticky: Barbells - Everything you ever wanted to know

I don't think a thread like this exists for the barbell, so I wanted to start one. The Olympic barbell is one of the most important purchases one can make for their home gym. A barbell is the interface to the weight and although they may all look similar to an untrained eye, there are actually a...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Power Rack Thread - August 2010 version

This is a collaborative effort from the equipment forum members. The 2008 edition has a lot of broken links and rather than keep that one going we decided to start a new one. First let’s have a few definitions to clear up some confusion. Squat Stands: These are probably the most useless...

Crepinsek Safety Squat bar?

I picked up this bar the other day. Is it a crepinsek? The angles are similar to my elitefts bar, so I think its a crepinsek but I can't find any good photos of it. Its very balanced like my elitefts one.

I've currently got a Impex Powerhouse rack. I'd like to upgrade to a cage system. I've found the Valor Fitness BD-7 in my price range. I like they also offer a pair of cross over arms, so down the road I essentially get 2 bulkier items in the footprint of about 1 and a quarter. Heres th BD-7. ...

Reverse hyper: plate loaded vs cable

Hi all. Can anyone compare plate loaded and cable loaded reverse hypers? Sure, plate loaded ones (westside-pendulum style and lever-style) are more popular. But there are some “unconventional” cable loaded RHs also, like Legend Pro series reverse back extension. I see at least few PROs of a...

Hi All, I read a post a few weeks ago in which SnowOne and DonForeman suggested a vintage iron thread to discuss/identify old plates. Wrist Wraps: Scapholunate Ligament Problem

I have a wrist condition that makes it too painful to do pushing exercises. I was told that I had a scapholunate ligament tear in my left wrist.(I assumed it resulted when I threw a punch at a heavy bag about 25 years ago and my wrist bent inward. That was unbelievably painful). But when I...

Power Rack depth - 24" sufficient?

I'm strongly considering getting a Titan T-3 short rack for my home gym.
