Post Sticky Thread Sticky: Barbells - Everything you ever wanted to know

I don't think a thread like this exists for the barbell, so I wanted to start one. The Olympic barbell is one of the most important purchases one can make for their home gym. A barbell is the interface to the weight and although they may all look similar to an untrained eye, there are actually a...

So you are new and dumb enough to believe the Bowflex commercials, before you get flamed and negged into the red, use the damn search function to get the answer to "dude, should I be ignorant and think about getting a bowflex" OK, now if you post another thread, you get what is coming to...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Cheapo Setup

Ok so let's go through the cheapest options for new equipment that you'd be willing to use for training. While we all dream of buying that custom built rig, or finding a solid piece of used commercial or vintage equipment to outfit your gym, many times we just want to buy something that's usable...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Power Rack Thread - August 2010 version

This is a collaborative effort from the equipment forum members. The 2008 edition has a lot of broken links and rather than keep that one going we decided to start a new one. First let’s have a few definitions to clear up some confusion. Squat Stands: These are probably the most useless...

Just as in every year past, this time of year sees an uptick of spammers, scammers, crooks, charlatans, ganefs, and knuckleheads bent on using this forum to shill their junk. One more time; don't quote or reply to such threads/posts; doing so only creates more work to clear them out. Simply...

Kabuki Strength Power and Squat Bars

Kabuki has been hinting at their upcoming power bar for some time now and they just recently announced that they will be releasing a squat bar along with it. A little bird told me (i.e. the Kabuki CS lol) that the pre-order for both should go live either late this week or early next with a 12...

Vulcan Strength Stainless Steel Power Bar & Calibrated PL Plates

I just left Vulcan's facility and I was able to see their new calibrated powerlifting plates as well as the new stainless power bar. I have to say, I am more and more impressed with what they are doing. The stainless bar is really nice looking and the knurl is fantastic. It's aggressive, but...

Hi All, I read a post a few weeks ago in which SnowOne and DonForeman suggested a vintage iron thread to discuss/identify old plates. Is this normal for Rogue shipments?

I received my Urethane bumpers, change plates, and stainless steel ohio power bar yesterday. Everything looks great but afterwards I noticed scratches through the chrome on my sleeves, a scratch on one of the change plates, and discoloration in one of my 35 lb bumpers. I realize it's hard to tell...

New REP fitness urethane dumbbells

I just seen these on the site and they look nice. They look identical to the rogue ones, I wonder if they are made by the same folks who make them for rogue. There is not enough description on their site in my opinion- like handle size etc.... Anyone else have info on them?

Thumbs down Transformer Bar Review - Bar of Sketch

I received the bar on the 9th of Feb and I hate to say I'm not too impressed. It was thrown in a box, with only foam balls on the handles for protection, and all corners of the box had a holes. Hopeful nothing was tarnished from the shipment, I was way wrong. The adjustable notches had a gash...

So I received a rogue Monster lat pull down and thought I'd share some thoughts as I couldn't find a lot of information when I was mulling this purchase for the past two years. I've been buying Rogue for years and I am generally a fan. 1. It was expensive, just a little less than $3500. 2....

Dissapointed with my Rogue R-3BT QC and delivery

Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was under the impression that Rogue's DNA as a company revolved around premium QC, quality and delivery. What I received last night is not something I would have agreed to buy brand new in real life. Used, absolutely, but not new. In a store, I would have...

Stainless Steel Power Bar under $500 (USA Made)

Right now I'm leaning towards the American Barbell Elite Power Bar. I've considered the Rogue SS OPB, but the center knurl is more aggressive than I would like. I would like the option to do back squats without a shirt so my preference is for a more moderate knurl. Bare steel tends to be grippy...
