Sticky Thread Sticky: The Official Power Rack Thread - August 2010 version

This is a collaborative effort from the equipment forum members. The 2008 edition has a lot of broken links and rather than keep that one going we decided to start a new one. First let’s have a few definitions to clear up some confusion. Squat Stands: These are probably the most useless...

Sticky Thread Sticky: The Cheapo Setup

Ok so let's go through the cheapest options for new equipment that you'd be willing to use for training. While we all dream of buying that custom built rig, or finding a solid piece of used commercial or vintage equipment to outfit your gym, many times we just want to buy something that's usable...

Post Sticky Thread Sticky: Barbells - Everything you ever wanted to know

I don't think a thread like this exists for the barbell, so I wanted to start one. The Olympic barbell is one of the most important purchases one can make for their home gym. what's The Best Way To Use 2 Barbells?

For the past 3 years or so, I've owned a CAP OB-86 barbell. It's been disassembled and greased, so it turns without scraping noises, although it doesn't exactly spin. It's served me well. I've been telling myself I would reward myself with a Rogue 2.0 barbell if I ever got my deadlift up to 405...

Restoring a Vintage York Bar...

Yesterday I received my 1980’s York Power Bar from AttyGuy. He had shipped it out to me last week and I finally went over the border to pick it up in NY. The bar was shipped in a PVC tube and arrived in good shape. These bars are a rarity in Canada so this was a big deal to me. I couldn’t have...

Anyone ever use a rack like this one? Multiple J hooks as opposed to one

I saw this rack on CL being sold for a VERY low price. Noticed that there are multiple J Hooks, kind of like an olympic style rack. Was wondernig if anyone had any experience using racks like these before. Is racking/unracking difficult? Depth is 62 inches inside (!!!)

Olympic DB handles, Troy/American, CAP, or Titan?

I'm about to buy a pair, anyone compared these? CAP is the cheapest, $25 per handle, some reviews say the chrome isn't fantastic. Troy is a 'by Troy' branded product, and Titan, surprisingly, uses snap rings and bushings, which got my attention. Thoughts?
